Spinsters, today and yesteryear

So, after reading an excellent post by HBK, it occurred to me on just how similar so many of our storys are.

I thought about HBK and his ex girl, and had an allegorical fly on the wall look on how they were once upon a time, and how the course of their lives turned out.

I then thought about his ex, my ex, and alot of the ex's who have been mentioned on here.

We have all heard of the old playboy, the old roux or letch; the type of man who is unable to settle down due to womanising never leaving his veins.

Do you think the same is true for certain types of women? That they are forever destined to be single, and unable to settle. That the `spinsters` or old ladys shuffling around, the great aunts who remained childless, the strange cat lady up the road from us, were once upon a time, the kinda ex's we here about on SS - and furthermore, is it nature or nurture????

Would be interested to here your thoughts on this unusual historical perspective

Correct. The old spinsters seen in old family photos are no more different than today but dressed different.

There was one I was attracted to and like but she seemed too stand off-ish to ever be able to connect to a man. Too bad. Her and I could have had a lot of great times together but its not to be.

Plus copping the independant Feminism attitude (which most are not capable of in practice) does not help.

Sometimes women have been brought up to think sex is dirty and have been wired in a way that being touched by a man is bad. Oh well.

A spinster is basically a woman who during her young attractive years just doesn't have a strong enough urge to reproduce and/or have sex, to give herself to a man. Perhaps she actually did want to reproduce and/or have sex with a high enough status man, but just hasn't been able to secure such a man (i.e., this is known as being stuck up.) All with the result that she is too old - and relatively too stuck up - to attract a man at her advances age.
