I want to share my knowledge..

Suppose you got caught speeding red handed. Officer used either a radar or laser gun. Also, officer done it alone, not in presence of other officers.

Tell him, no way Sir, I was definitely going the speed limit. Never admit your guilt. Then. Ask him how he knows you were going what he says you were going. Then. Ask him to show your the radar gun or laser gun.

He might steer conversation different way.

Go that way. Then revisit your needs. Tell him, Sir. I know I was definitely going speed limit, could you show me your radar gun?

He will either show it to you or not. If not, don't go any further. Sign it, move on.

This is very good, if he does not show it to you. Then in court you have a weapon against him that your lawyer can use to your advantage. You will most certainly win. Since in most cases lawyer is less expensive than ticket, as low as $45, you paying less, getting no points, and no insurance increases.

Always ask him to show you his radar gun, and never admit guilt.

Are you really up to losing 2-3 hours of your life for a $45 ticket?

it's generally a fight over $100+ in fines, points on your record, increased insurance rates (a scam altogether, imo), and also the principle of the thing

So yeah, I'd be a man and spend 2-3 hours of my life fighting if I thought I had a chance of winning. Don't take the seemingly easy way out.

You spend 0 hours actually. Let lawyers deal with it. In most cases you don't even have to appear in court. It can go two ways. You make a deal with ADA, or officer does not show up.

But if you have a strong case, such as he woudln't show you radar. Then there is a 3rd option. Go to trial and win.

If you going to trial with strong evidence (always have a lawyer), then you must show up even if you don't have to.

How can you prove you asked to see the radar and he wouldn't show it, though? Or would a cop not really give a sh*t about admitting that?

Your word against his word. He either does not remember the incident, or he's a lier. In both cases, you win.

If state to win, officer must remember the incident. Otherwise state has no case against you.

How do you win if he's lying? Wouldn't it be the cop's word over yours?

The tickets pay the judges & cops' salaries, so if it comes down to your word against his, I doubt the judge will side with you.

Cops don't lie.

You don't have to do anything but call up a lawyer, tell him your story and that you have this evidence. Lawyer takes care of it all.

Stop that what if negative thinking. It is his career on the line, he wouldn't lie to give you a speeding ticket. He might not remember. Which is good.

It's all tried and proven.

nooo...he means $45 for the lawyer...would you rather pay about $130 (oh..dont forget about the new calforina traffic fine increses if you live here) or $45 and no points on your record or insurance increases.

i have a question though...

i have been pulled over many times...i know that if they ask you do you know how fast you were going and you say "ugh...i dont know..." like a douche...they will most certainly make up a speed...some officiers even pull people over for some other infraction but going the speed limit and likely say they were speeding too if they say they dont know what they were doing...

what if the officier says...ive already cleared the radar??ive tried to ask the offiicer one time if he can give me a break and the prick goes "too late..ive already input it into the system"...a$shole.. :cuss:

You don't tell him you don't know. You do know, speed limit. Just remain calm, collected, high value. Eye contact always dominating his. He is there to give you ticket, not argue with you.

Every one lies. The only difference between you and every one else is that you should believe your lies. "Sir, I was going the speed limit." What makes you think I was going faster. Make him qualify him self to you.

Asking for brakes don't work. Never beg for anything. Instead, pretend you're innocent. Act accordingly. Always high value. Always dominating the cop as far as eye contact goes. Show intelligence.

What if he clearned it already? "Hmmm. I was going speed limit, officer Joe Shmoe (off his name tag). And you are mistaken!" Sign the ticket and off you go. Just as good as him not showing it to you.

As someone who has worked for several police departments, I can tell you that your 'show me the radar' defense is useless at best.

Police catch you speeding in one of three ways:

Radar
Certified speedometers (matching your speed with their car)
Educated guessing

Cops don't use radar as often as you'd think. If they've been following you, their speedometers are certified and you will almost never get away with claiming that they were tampered with or the cop is wrong. You may be able to question their guesswork if they caught you from a static position and you slowed down before they caught up to you, but it's unlikely. If they were behind or close to you at any time while you were speeding, again because of the rated speedometers in police cars, you pretty much have zero defense aside from claiming that the officer was flat out lying.

As far as I know, there are no jurisdictions that REQUIRE the officer to show you a radar reading upon request, and this will just piss them off and get you a maximum fine. The best way to beat a speeding ticket is to be as polite as possible to the officer and take it up in court and hope the judge has mercy on you for whatever reason. As was said already once you piss him off (on the street and later in court) it is his word against yours. Remember that the judge sees the same officers over and over again and he is unlikely to side with you unless you have a real concrete case against the cop or for yourself.

"Your" role as defendant is like so:

Show up in court, make no statements, unless to your attorney. In some cases you don't even have to show up.

It's officer's word, against..... his own recollections. Which lawyer will question very well if it comes to defending me. Otherwise, any piece of evidence is a bargaining chip with ADA.

Be polite. But don't submit nor admit your guilt. Svcking up does not work.

Let's also mention that officers often do not show up. Especially in large cities.

It is not you against an officer's recollections. It is you against his RECORDS. Ever wonder why an officer sits in his car for twenty minutes after he pulls you over and you've left? He's writing a mandatory report of what happened. That is far more valuable in court than YOUR recollection of what happened as it was written, dated and signed right there right then by the officer.
