I think someone has asked the same question, but i can't seem to find it.

so i want to ask again.

after working out
do we HAVE to get the soreness?

my teacher told me you SHOULD be getting the sore-ness or else i am not working hard enough...

i am talking about bicep BTW.

on slot ones i do 120 LB 3 sets 10 reps and then negative with dumbells ( 25lbs)

well, my main question is do we HAVE to get sore?

thanks.

kevin.

NO. If you are sore for the first 1 or 2 weeks of a regimen, that is normal, especially if you've come off of a hiatus of non-lifting. If you lift consistently, week after week, you will not feel nearly as sore as those first weeks, because your body is used to the stress again and you can lift heavier and not notice soreness. If you train the same muscle groups more than once in a week that you are sore, you will notice the soreness ease off, however I do not advocate overtraining, use your knowledge on this one. If you experience Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) which is soreness for a few days after training, you can supplement w/Glutamine, which helped ease soreness for me.

Everyone's soreness situation is different and the soreness doesn't mean anything other than you used that muscle.

Some muscles you have will never get sore no matter how much you use them. And which muscles those are differ between people. There's a post on Iron Addict's site where he tried to get his shoulders to be sore doing 20-30 sets in one day and they still weren't sore.

I actually don't get much soreness at all anymore other than my midback and hamstrings... or my calves if i haven't worked them directly in a while.

My biceps do not get sore.

No, soreness is for when you're getting used to an exercise.

the question is irrelevant because it depends on so many factors.

first, how big are they now?

second, how hard are you working on building the rest of your body?

and third, who gives a crap about a number like that? even within the context of your overall size & shape it's pretty meaningless.

you've convinced me, i've gotta re-write a recent post on goals and use it to start a new thread......

I wouldn't use soreness as an indicator, though if you do get sore it is usually a possible result of a good workout. I'd use feel of the workout and numbers put up with good form as good indicators though.

Several years, that's if you use some gear, train and eat hardcore and dedicate yourself to BBing 100 %, that's relying on good genetics as well.

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.
