When she poo-poo'd my $145K salary offer letter I finally asked her: "What do YOU think is a good salary?" I reminded her that when we met last year my income matched the highest salary of any job in America at $166,800 (Neurosurgeon, 2011). "YOU are the highest paid?" she laughed. "Some guys make $600,000 a year".
"What job is that? Gangster?" I asked. She had no reply. Note she didn't say any girls made that much.
Then I thought about it. She's only had 2 steady boyfriends in her entire life. One lives with his mom and is starting college. The other lives with his mom's house and just graduated college. Neither ever had a job in their career. Both hope to be lawyers "who would earn $110K - #22 on the list", but that will take them 10-15 years of hard work, and given inflation, who knows?
Sure, you can run a business an make millions, but that's if you make the top 1% (and get extremely lucky) so you can't expect that.
Sadly, her generation should expect much less, not much more. It's the first generation that has it worse than their parents in the history of the US (in both life expectancy and income).
Compare 2012 to 1970 when a man could work in a factory and take home $25,000 a year and a house cost $30,000. Women married guys like that and were good wives and mothers for the most part. In 2012 there are hardly any jobs, and men are lucky to make $25,000 a year NOW, with houses costing $300,000. The average income is still under $40,000. How convenient to expect a man to make 15 times the average, while dating an unemployed man? But half the women on FB and POF are exactly that. They think they can save up for fake boobs and then deserve an independently wealthy man.
The bottom line is that times are much harder for this generation, and to make up for it, women have increased their fantasies exponentially. Instead of making $25K and expecting $25K, todays woman makes $25 and expects $25M.
This is what I've said for years now, sometime around age 22 a woman will go from f*cking guys her age who are busboys to expecting a man to be a millionaire. There is no in-between. Under no circumstances would any woman be impressed with anyone making the top 25 salaries ($105K - $181K in 2012) in America (hard enough to achieve). It seems there is no actual job a man can have that will earn enough to impress even a college girl these days, nevermind the shoulder-padded mid-30's ex-divorcees. It's like the boss that asks you to get something done in an hour. Men have been set up to fail by impossible expectations.
How much is your woman happy with?
