I've been going on out a few dates recently.. and I've got a few more lined up.... I'm not into the cliche dinner/movie date.. especially on a first date.. the movie provides no conversation at all and the dinner provides no action at all.

So, other than coffee, a movie, or bowling/mini golf what's something fun that you guys have had fun doing? I was considering for the next one going downtown and checking out some of the cool shops, and walk around on the college campus, then grab some ice cream but it doesn't seem like it stands out from any of the other ideas.

Any suggestions?

take out for a walk in the park, take her ice skating ( lots of kino there), walk with her in like a park and just hang out there use the excuse your going rollerblading or just want to go out for a walk at the park its very un expected and it is kind of fun. ull get much better results than going to a movie and dinner those never work

- Zoo
- Circus
- Con (Anime, Movies)
- Music festivals

Basically, places where a lot of stuff happens so you have plenty to talk about. Create a memory.

I like the idea of comedy clubs, humour always eases tension and relaxes everyone. Or go karting, that way you can establish your macho status. Arcades are sweet too, everyone loves air hockey.

A pool hall or a bowling place (or best if both combined) that have a bar attached. and checking out downtown areas in a hip city definitely stands out from the rest, i did this twice and it's awesome. tons of things to talk about and plenty of stuff for interesting conversations.
I like:
-Apple orchards and haunted houses in the fall.
-Snowboarding/skiing in winter.
-Swimming in summer
-Volleyball, tennis, badmitton, roller blading, frisbee
-Grilling food on the grill. (You can go shopping for ingredients together and cooking is fun)
-Go karts
-Laser tag
-TRAVEL (this is my all time FAVORITE if with someone that you know pretty good though and know you will have a blast)
-River tubing
-Hiking nature trails, or biking
-Fishing
-Helicopter (or Hot Air Balloon) Ride
-Scuba diving
-Drive-In theatre
possibilities are endless.

Seeing as you are from Detroit, would you consider Ann Arbor to be a 'hip city'?

Anyway, thanks for the ideas guys... I was thinking about wandering around downtown then grabbing a bite to eat... obviously we're gonna get hungry walking around, and it's gonna be dinner time anyway. :)

My favorite first date idea is roller skating.

1. It's fun and lighthearted
2. It's an action date, but not TOO active.
3. It allows for coversation while being active
4. It builds an appetite for a follow up at a restaraunt after the ice has been broken.
5. She'll think it's a cute idea.

Go to a flea market.

Good ideas involve an action period (so the excitement is associated with you) and then a rapport period, preferably with a drink (but no more than 2).

I agree creating memories is key, making something that sets your date apart from others is what you want. Find out what her intersts are first, then I like to tell them where I am taking you is a surprise date I will drop hints but not give it way, It works great, If a women loves photography, take her to the zoo or some where elese where a lot of photos can be taken.
