Some confusing business

So there's this girl from school that I've known for a while. I tried to hit on her last year but I was still in nice guy mode and ended up nowhere. Anyway, I've drastically changed over the first couple of weeks of school and I think she likes me now. She's been acting pretty friendly to me lately. Like, she'll walk past me and play with my hair and go "Hi Get-With-It".

I let her hold my phone and later (when I checked it) I noticed she dropped her number in it. I'm thinking Yes!! and I call her the next day. Shes like "why did you call me?" I say that I saw her number in my phone and I wanted to talk. She says she doesn't recall doing that then says she has to do something and splits.

Now here I am confused about this whole situation. My homie says she probably had some friends over or something at the time. I'm just wondering what kind of game she's trying to run here. Some elaboration please?

maybe shes putting on an act for friends? if not then during school when shes flirting shes just trying to get your attention. theres a number of reasons why shed "think" she needs that.

You shouldn't have rung her for no reason? why would you ring, oh lets gossip, lets talk about ur day.. just keep it in RL unless you are geniuinely ringing her for a reason.

one, you shouldnt have called her the next day..

two, you shouldnt have called simply to talk..

perhaps you were overexcited or curious..but nonetheless...
you should talk to her at school some more if you haven't already..then at school, ask her if she wants to hang this weekend...if she says yes, tell her you'll call her and set it up (only call to set up dates..or other SUPER importnat things)..then get oiut of there..make sure you ask before you have to go..

I called her two days after she left the number in though...
I admit I was kinda curious. Looking back on it, I probably should've just talked to her face to face about it.
