I am very curious to know how many of you all will study or major in sociology in college. (Or if you are taking it currently). I think that a lot of people from this board would be interested in the course because it is about, well......humans behavior esp. in social situations.

I myself want to dedicate my life to studying the human mind so im very interested in this class. Any of you all?

I think you've got your majors mixed up. Anyway, sociology (at least intro) was an easy A.

I got an A, but many didn't, because the tests in my class were brutal, but then again, I studied and read the book, which gave me a 1000% advantage over my peers.

Personally I found it VERY boring, VERY anti-american, VERY liberal-pvssy-appologetic bullsh!t (oh, whites are so bad, they are so bad, we oppress all these people, and look at europe, oh, france, oh, they are soooo much better than we are, oh, bad white people, and women are better than men and should be paid accordingly). The book goes against all the laws of economics, like discrimination (ah, we should have as many women firefighters as men, and white people have all the money and minorities are poor), minimum wage (we need to raise minimum wage!!! let's raise it to $100,000,000,000 an hour!!), how democrats are the people you should vote for (omg...i don't like republicans but they were the ones who were against slavery in the civil war).... please, that is all bullsh!t. I hated the class.

Now, I find micro-economics much more interesting, and it is similar to sociology, and covers many of the same topics. Psychology is the study of the psyche, and it covers social interactions, child development, brain chemistry, drugs, sex, and many other topics that are more "fun" compared to bullsh!t sociology...

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I took Psych 101 and 102 as well as Soc 101. They were all cake courses, but were required for my major. Anyway I sat in on some higher level classes and had no idea what was goin on (I never planned on being a psych or soc major). Facinating subjects and it's mad easy to do independent studies on them by yourself cause they're subjects that have tons of information readily accesible in lots of places.

I like to read studies from time to time, it kinda opens your mind to new ideas about how and why people think/act the way they do. Of course I like to read about a lot of subjects cause you never know when some of it'll come in handy. I kinda take after my pops, he read an encycopedia set (No lie he knows mad random facts) when he was younger cause those were some of the only books availible to him.

I took it in HS originally as a BS course. However they ended up getting a good teacher for the course and she made it so we actually had to study the subject (where as the other one did god only knows). It was definately tougher then I expected but I did enjoy the experience and learned a lot about society in general. I do believe everyone should take at least one class in sociology, just so they have a better understanding of society.

I'm actually typing a paper for Sociology right now. :(

I've found it to be a pretty boring class so far. Easy though.

I'm majoring In socio & the sylabbus stinks !

I have my final year exams on & 5 of the 6 chapters have some femi-nazi propaganda in them about how 'men are the oppressors' & the cause of all their problems in life

A majority of girls take up socio here & it's unfortunate that the sylabbus tries to incite them to go battle with man, besides that the subject matter is trivial & redundant

The only interesting subject is social theory which is about the philosophies of Marx,Durkheim, CJ cooley & the like

Thanks for posting this thread brak so I could rant about my studies.

This is true. In fact, when blacks were first granted the right to vote, they voted predominantly Republican. This changed over time, however, and the Republican party shifted more towards being in favor of whites, while the Democratic party became more supportive of blacks; thus resulting in blacks since then (and to this day) primarily voting Democrat.
Yeah, and up until recently the South always voted democrat, even though southern democrats really advocated "state's rights" and were more like republicans; so they call 'em southerncrats or dixiecrats lol. Really the South did a stupid thing by leaving the union... Lincoln was really on their side.
