Smile is not always full proof

You know how people say if a girl smiles at you, that means she finds you attractive. While, this may be true...it all depends on the context of the situation. Obviously, a girl in a customer service job who smiles at you is just being friendly. Sometimes a cute girl will give you a half smile when eye contact is made just as a friendly gesture. I had this happen to me today while waiting for the T in Boston. In a case like this, I would try and make eye contact with the girl again to see if I get another smile. I tried with this one, but she never looked at me again (the whole train ride home) Usually, if they do it twice, YOU ARE IN!! However, one BIG smile usually means you are in too!

So a smile is not always a green light.

As you said, it's all about context.

There is no single incident of body language which exists in a vacuum. A smile is better than a frown or raised eyebrows, however, it is not a green light. This where the other factors come into play. The context.

I have a female buddy and sometimes when she is feeling down and dumpy, she will smile at random men, many who she is not overly attracted to, simply to engorge her own self-esteem. Needless to say she can leave a trail of men who are walking on top of the world thinking this random chick likes them when in fact they were just tools!

You are reading into this way too much. Why wait for her to give you the ok, why not just come up, talk and find out.

screw the smile, go into the convo, get the number, get the date, and then get the close. Simple and efficient.

Your in if a girl is checking you out and you catch her and she bolts her head away to another direction. That is when you are in.

I never go for a smile as a green light other than to go talk. Besides, I just go talk with women for the hell of it. The number is the real first test. The first convo is just for fun.
