lately, i've been taking a 15min break after my morning class to just relax. this is ME TIME. i go get a drink, sit down and just absorb the beauty of life.
you don't have 15min to relax? yeah right.
it's like meditating, except i have no clue about meditation or yoga or any of that...i just sit there, and first i observe everything visually, then just focus on the sounds, then the smells...just take it all in...
i just sit there sipping my drink, and don't think about anything at all. no concious thoughts whatsoever, no analyzing, just observing through my senses. just take pleasure in serenity of ordinary places / activities. it's just all so damn beautiful. and no, i'm not high or drunk, i'm completely sober.
if my mind drifts off, i'll kick out the random thoughts. if i hunch my shoulders, i'll force myself to sit up and relax. after a while of doing this...you'll be able to sit naturally relaxed and just let empty thoughts take over
then sometimes i'll sit there for longer than 15min and just watch people walking by. ever heard of people watching? watch people walking slowly, those who walk fast, those with their heads down, whatever, just observe.
it's kind of like going to chill at an airport. except with buffed security these days, you can't do that much anymore...so i chill while everyone rushes to class (not to catch their flights).
just SLOW THE FVCK DOWN.
life goes by way too fast. we're all gonna die one of these days anyway...heck you might get hit by a car tomorrow and die instantly, who knows. i see everybody so busy and hurrying to get somewhere. SLOW DOWN, life will pass you by before you know it.
just take time to appreciate the beauties of life that are overlooked more often than not. strip away all the meaningless bullsh!t...all we really need is food and shelter pretty much. when you take out all the bullsh!t between us that defines are 'social status' etc etc, what are things that we still all have? we all have the freedom to enjoy the beauty of nature, to enjoy observing other humans and their interactions, we have laughter, love, comfort, etc, etc. i don't know exactly how i became so relaxed...but everyone from my friends to family etc lately tell me that i've become extremely (and almost too) relaxed lately (heck, i feel they're slightly weirded-out by it, though i try to explain to them)...and i'm thinking it's because i've been taking the time to slow down and appreciate these things
here's a good analogy. think of your favorite food...the most delicious food you've ever tasted. visualize it in your head. think of how it looks...then, if you can, try to recapture that scrumptious taste in your mouth...
now, imagine you've just arrived to some place and they only have one tiny piece of that favorite food left for you. heck, if you arrived any later they would have finished it off. so what do you do? of course you savor it. you bite into it slowly, let the juices flow in your mouth, tasting every last crumb and drop of it to extinction.
that's how you should be living life...you should be slowly savoring every last bit of it until there is nothing left of it.
just live. truly live.
