My sleeping has been arsed up recently. I lie in bed but I just can't see to drop off to sleep. I just get generally restless or my mind won't give it a rest!

It's not at a life-inhibiting stage yet, but does anyone have any reccomendations to get a really good night's sleep?- especially now it's hot.

Cheers.

OK, from one vampire to another, here is it, the one and only tip that will work for you. Get up at 6 am everyday and work out. Don't care if you don't have to be anywhere until noon. Just force yourself to get up. That way, you will be tired come midnight.

If I allowed myself, I wouldn't sleep until 6 am :) Of course, since I have to get up then...

Before bed, try reading for a good 20 mins or so. I do this, and about 30 secs to a minute after I turn the light off, I'm asleep. Also, have a cool down period before bed. Light and noise stimuli are a no-no (i.e. games, tv, whatever). Meditation also works too.

I have the same problem. some nights Ill fall right off to sleep, others I will sit there for hours and hours and hours.

A couple of helpful hints
1) dont drink caffine within 2 hours of your bedtime
2)dont sleep in a hot room. I turn on the air conditioner and use covers for warmth
3)find something to think about that doesent have to do with your real llife to fall asleep. I pretend im taking over the world with my magic sword every night and basically kill everyone in my path. Its lame but i find my self drift off to sleep when im playing this out in my head.

If it's hot I have a swim right before I go to sleep. I sit in the pool for a few minutes to cool down. Also maybe you're going to sleep too early? Or getting up to late? Excercise is good in the evenings, weights don't really make me sleepy but I find a good cardio workout does the trick.
