Sleeping on an empty stomach

I cannot sleep unless my stomach is completely full. Eating a meal before bed will make me fat. How can I sleep without food or what foods could I eat that will just take up space, but not make me fat? I was thinking of making some sort of stew with lean chicken, celery, barly, and other such things to eat before bed.

Knowing this will help me get a 6 pack.

Just don't eat carbs unless you've worked out in the afternoon.

Right now its probably mental. You're in the habit of eating before you go to bed, so your body tells itself that you can't go to bed without eating. So try slowly eating less before bed until you can go to bed with a quick snack instead of a full meal.
Or, like Mr. S said, just cut the carbs out of your bedtime snack. You could also try an appetite suppressant about an hour or so before you go to bed, that way when you do eat before bed, you don't eat as much.

Alcohol always helped me. but really, you shouldn't eat anything 2 hours before sleeping - drink warm milk?

Most fruits have natural sugar in them, which tends to be high on the GI index, which means it spikes your blood-sugar level. Thus, fruit does not suppress your diet. The only support for such a claim is that fruit has a little bit of fiber, which could help produce the feeling of satiety.

Most people confuse hunger for thirst, especially before bed. Make sure you are drinking enough water.

Also, eating before bed will not absolutely turn to fat since it depends on your activity level and your intake over the preceding days. But since it is safe to assume that most do not watch their intake and are not very active, it is a general assumption that eating before bed will make you fat.

If I were you I would get the biggest cup in your cabinet, fill it up with water, and drink a cup per hour before bed.

That is a myth. It doesn't matter what time you eat. Calories are calories. What will make you fat is eating more of them (at any time) than you burn each day.
