Ok i've been trying to bulk up lately. Past 8-9 weeks or so ive been doing pretty intense weight training, eating a lot of the right stuff, etc. I'm 17, 6'4'' and 150 lbs. I've gained what seems to be about 7-8 lbs of muscle. Thing is i have this ring of fat over my lower 2 abs, almost seem to have lovehandles also.

I'm afriad if i start eating less or doing crazy cardio its going to be hard putting on more muscle, but is there any way to get rid of the fat while keeping the muscle building to a maximum. I think i've been eating like 2600 calories a day with maybe 160-200g protein (just a rough estimate) and it has seemed to work so far, havent put on any more visible fat.

So anyway, how should i tweak my diet and cardio?

brother, i'd stick to the bulking and not worry about your little fat.. short term, u'd probably look better without the fat..
long term, you'll look a hell of alot better bulked - even if that little bit of fat is still there..

Keep on building the muslce and ignore the fat for now.

The thing is, if you keep on building your muscles, the fat will go away cuz your msucles will use up more calories and so....less fat!

Keep up the gd work!

I started working out when I was skinny fat too. I weighed about 125 lbs when I started...

From my experience, it's a LOT easier to focus on bulking up and then focus on burning off the fat...

Just do light cardio to maintain cardiovascular health on your off days, but don't do anything too intense

If you do a successful clean bulk, the fat you had when you were skinny will be overshadowed by your new lean mass.
When you begin your cut, the cardio/dieting along with the new muscle mass will aid you in burning off the old fat

Good luck.

Toning up is all you can really do. Lots of people have that problem so don't worry about it, chances are not too many people will notice it anyway, and when you gain general weight and your muscle mass increases, you'll be fine. I've got the opposite problem, I used to weigh 252lbs and got it down to 154 then put on another 16lbs but maintained it.

My stomach and love handles get to me a lot, I don't really exercise too much but I'm hoping when I get to the gym more often I'll tone up. I've got spare skin, haha. Running seems to be helping with my legs...

What are the best exercises for the inner thighs and love handles? Obviously you can't control where the fat you burn comes from, but toning still helps. I do leg presses when I'm at the gym and those thigh things... in and out. you shouldn't lift weights more than 90 minutes a week in three sessions anyway. Any more than that usually doesn't give you any results, it takes away from what you've done.

heh, I've got the same problem - I've got pretty broad shoulders, and good posture so when I'm standing up I look great! As soon as I sit down, however, the rolls start coming... I'm at around 16% BF right now, and just about all of it is in my stomach.

That's called tough genes - everyone stores fat in different places, and there's simply no way to target a specific area for fat loss. If you're bulking now, keep bulking, and study up on cutting so that when you get to that phase you can minimize your muscle losses. Good shape takes time, but it's worth it ;)
