after doing 150 sit ups my neck and shoulder hurt and felt strained. does this mean im doing the sit ups wrong?

do curls my man, less strainful and works the abs a lot better, the've definitely brought out my six pack!

situps are schite!!

cunches, is that anytihng to do with lying down with your legs raised off the floor and trying to sit up or somtihng like that? im not really uptodate with all this stuff.

crunches are,

you get in the same position as sit-ups but you only raise your top body about 20% above the floor instead of going all the way up in situps, also put your hands across your pecks instead of behind your head so it puts the strain on your abs and not your neck,

try it mate, it works the abs a lot harder and brings out your 6 pack a lot better than sit-ups

pecks as in above your abs?, the two things on your chest otherwise known as tits ;)

in a dracula sleeping type way yeah?

you will find it's harder to do as much as you can do sit-ups, i could only do about 25 when i first did them but i'm upto 150 a day at the minute

when i do 40 press ups its hard for me so it goes quick...

with situps i find it incredibly boring because its hard but not as hard, you do not need to concentrate at all so i find them increadibly boring to do.

Are you doing these situps in sets or just 150 reps from beginning to end? Really, sets of 10-20 reps should be enough to exercise your abs. If you're not feeling the strain, try doing them much slower and/or hold a dumbell as you do.

I personally do 3 x 50. Then do 3 x 20 leg raises. I do this 3 times a week and it does the job for me!

Oh and yes, your shoulders should no hurt. Make sure you tense your muscles and make sure you know you are using your abs to pull you up when doing situps. A lot of people use the wrong muscles in the gym to do their various exercises, and thus, they make slow gains!

you sound like you are doing your sit ups wrong? the reason your neck is sore is probably because your pulling on your neck muscles with your hands behind your head straining your neck, try doing your sit ups with your hands on the side of your head so you dont yank your head forward with each sit up and concentrate on using your abdominals, dont cheat by trying to swing your body up and not using your abs.

I also like to do my sit ups in 125 - 150 sets, I usually do 125 then rest 5 or 10 minutes and do another 125 -150
