i'm signing up for classes for the fall term, and contemplating taking beg. singing. "This course offers group instruction in vocal technique with an emphasis on classical solo literature."

will taking such a class improve my voice overall?

I sing regularly and id say that no, learning to sing doesnt 'improve' your talking voice.

It will improve your voice in a singing type of way but i certainly havnt noticed any improvement or change in how i speak... altho perhaps it might assist you with projection. Thats assuming u have a problem with projection using ur regular voice!

It depends... If you have a problem with speaking to quietly, hushing over your words, and not projecting your voice very well then yes it will help (if your concious of the problem, and want to change those issues).

If that's not the case then it's not going to do anything but teach you how to sing. Which all in all isn't a bad skill to have.
