Hey guys,

Gonna start cutting in week or two and am wondering if you guys, who have cut successfully, ever invested in a heart rate monitor watch? Like this one: http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...talogId=3151&productId=126951&clickfrom=image

They're about 70euro here - but are they worth it?

Ive heard you should keep your heart rate between 65-75% (or something like that) for cardio - would a watch that tracks these stats be worth it?

Thanks.

hey gig,

did u call me silverSex?! lol.

Thanks for the reply so theyre just a waste of money then?

I was thinking of jogging at an average pace for 40mins per cardio session 3 times a week (thurs/sat/sun morns.) That good enough?

When I used to compete in triathlon we used them to set real time upper and lower limits, very useful as an aid to prevent over training and stop you lagging.

You can also use it for intervals, working within certain ranges such as anaerobic threshold, VO2 max etc.

At the end of the day though a cartoid reading for 10 secs x6 is fairly accurate, less so for intervals because it's dropping rapidly.

cheers alpine.

gig, nah not getting laid at mo, stuck in a rut! but summers always a good time for me! :)

anyway, when cutting, is it ok to eat 'normally' (proteins fats and carbs) before 6pm and then cut back on carbs? also, do i have a shake after cardio or not?

Im gonna take a shake before cardio in the mornings. is it ok to do cardio so close together (sat/sun/thurs) and one more thing, is a soccer match good cardio or too much?

thanks.

totally off subject but my legs have got SO big after all the squats, deads and calve raises ive been doing (thats all i do for legs!) but the rest of my bod has to catch up - esp. my arms! but i cant get em any bigger (for the next month or two) as ill be cutting for a while - or is it possible to still get big arms cutting?

PS - gig, nice girl u got there! damn i love the all american girl look! maybe il use my irish charm to get one someday...! :)

I picked up a wireless heart rate monitor for about $20 a year or two back... it helped motivate me when I was doing inline skating; I'd often try to keep my heart going above a certain number the entire time... virtually impossible to accurately ascertain without a monitor, but easy and simple with one. Don't get anything too fancy - the one I have straps around your chest and sends the signal to a watch you can strap pretty much anywhere. Only get it if you really plan on using it though - it's not how much you spend, or how much you wear, or even how much you have that's going to yield results in the gym or on the street...

I use one when I'm on my bike but I use it to make sure that my heart rate stays relatively low, especially when hill climbing. For me, the lower I can keep my heart rate, the further I can ride, the stronger I can climb and the faster I can sprint without hitting my anaerobic threshold.

who cares
if youre serious about hitting a certain range of bpm, then get it, if youre not that serious work hard enough so you can feel it.

It's time to get your game on then!

Gig and his girl aren't offical as of last night. But they are still gonna go out and have fun.

You think she's hot? You ain't seen nothin' yet!
Lol, my plane ticket's booked as of right now! :)

I was gonna buy a heart rate watch coz i heard somewhere that if you keep your HR between certain rates its optimal for fat loss, anything more is bad and anything less is useless. Im no expert on cardio.

So would soccer be a good cradio session? (1hr & half of running/jogging/sprinting/standing)
