Saw this girl at a club about 6 months ago and sensed decent eyes on me...but I was too nervous to approach as she was easily the hottest girl in the place. She wore this form fitting dress and drew all sorts of attention and figured she would be would be a *****.
About 2 months later we end up working together at this hip new restaurant. During orientation I sense eyes and smiles on me. And soon enough, because I have status at the place, she approaches me. She's not such a big deal and seems kind of nervous. I later come to learn she used to be about 20 pounds heavier and from the pics I've seen as gone through a huge makeover. Possible self-esteem issues? I also come to learn that she's mainly dated 5's and 6's even of late. She's probably a 9 by most people's books.
About 3 weeks and maybe 2 conversations later I run into her at a club and she's with some friends. They're all dolled up and I barely recognize her but she comes to me and she doesn't stop. She's all over me, trying to get me to dance and getting in close with the talking. People think we're gonna make out. We toy with each other for about 2 hours and then right before she's about to leave she isolated herself, tells me she thinks I have her wallet (excuse) and then attacks me and we make out for like 30 secs. Then she leaves. Apparently a co-worker saw it has teased her repeatedly.
Next day she adds my friend on Facebook and he thinks she was trying to get at me because his profile is a group pic. I play it cool...wait until work to see what's up. She plays it cool and so do I. A month passes and I add her. We chat for like 20 minutes and then I cut it short, thinking I have this in the bag.
Time passes and lengthy convo two never happens. Partially because I lose interest and perhaps partially because she does...I decide to step it up a couple months later when I come to the realization that I like her personality and would date her. I get her number and text her. No response. She explains later that she got the message late.
A couple more months pass and we get pretty close but never hang out except at work and the odd club when I see her. And in the clubs, she's mine....I'm the guy holding her hand and steering her though the crowd, and she always comes to me with the puppy dog eyes. I never get her home but nobody does to my knowledge.
She keeps explaining things to me....if a dude hugs her...he's an ex....if he's following her around...he's a stalker...apparently I never have anything to worry about with this one!???
So I ask her out and she agrees to go to dinner. I call and she says she has a fam thing to do but she will call back when it's done. I wait and I get a text stating she'll be done at a super late time but she doesn't explain if it's cancelled or if we're rescheduling. It drives me nuts. She ignores ME at work for some reason (not vice versa) and it gets weird.
I end up in a car with her after work and the driver has to run an errand inside so it's the two of us. Somehow the topic of me always flirting with her comes up and she confesses that she wanted to go out with me but won't because all of the girls at work told her I was a *****---I do get tons of attention but I just play it up for tips etc. She does the same...so unfair. I told her I have never asked a coworker out before...she tells me to talk to her when I'm sober.
Next day, I call her for coffee and think I can get a walk and set the record straight. She calls me back 5 hours later with a new plan...drinks and food with coworkers...she tells me I should come. I go and it's terrible. There are dudes from work all over her and I'm on the other side of the table. I play it cool. They make a plan to go to a club out of town. I'm curious if she wanted me to me here so I could leave with her now that we're both off work and drunk.
Except there's no room for me in the car she's in. It's her in a car with 4 dudes who want her. She never invites me but someone else does...I end uo rolling in a car without her and when we arrive we're kind of always apart. These other dudes have her attention. My only couple of attempts to talk to her fall flat. I no longer have that control and it looks like she might go home with a rather unattractive and kind of fat coworker...ironically who actually HAS tried to pick up everyone at work.
Sure enough the two of them leave before anyone...and the extra dudes roll back with us. Basically, everybody gave them space for something to happen and she went for it...?
I understand that this would have happened without me showing up. I accept that. And my game has been off since her rejection of our date. Just really frustrated because she went through such trouble to dig up dirt on me and then leaves with this guy who actually has that rep.
There's probably only a 30% chance anything happened because that's also his rep but if she had any interest in me, would she have left with him at all, given that she has a problem with a girl simply talking to me or if I talk to a coworker in a friendly way?
Work is going to be awkward. People say I'm jumping to conclusions. People say to next her and actually ***** it up. People say she's nuts. I held out on that long enough to keep the door for her open but it seems like after 2 cancelled dates and her clearly ignoring me the night of a date, I should move on? Or did I not step up enough?
Advice?
