Should DJs compare themselves to others?

I've been thinking about this question lately. It's human nature to compare one's wealth, status, looks to other males. Even if we don't want to, thoughts inevitably enter our heads relating our situation to that of the observed which then inspires a wide set of emotions ranging from contempt to sympathy.

Should we, men who are constantly striving to improve ourselves, dwell on these intrusive thoughts?

It makes us very aware of the fact that there's always room for improvement.

On one hand this gives us the motivation to possibly bridge that gap my working hard on one's goals. But on the other this also sometimes leaves us depressed because we know we aren't currently better than those we're observing and may potentially never be.

Thoughts?

It depends on what you're comparing yourself on.

There's no point in comparing yourself based on wealth or genes because its not something you can change easily and in the short-term. You just have to acknowledge that some people will value these more than others.

Personally I always compare myself to other people's personality because I know its something I can improve on and I want to see where I stand compared to others.

I've met some guys who I'd say were ugly, but they blow more attractive guys out because they don't give a **** and still go hook up with women.

Work out what you want to be and where you want to be and compare yourself to that. The envy of others will only divert you from that path.

No

But I would be lying and say I havent thought about how I would do in the field compared to Pook, Fingz, Sexpdx, Slickster, Bradd or Snowplowman (the greatest sosusaver ever)

It's what fouled me the early years to see those guys's field reports, and try to replicate what they did or better. That's why I always considered myself a hybrid.

In the end you have to be carefull though cause the ego can be a motherphucker and instead of inspiring you can come off as pompous and arrogant just look at a guy like BeDJ. I and other posters would ask him for advice and he would talk down on us. Is this something Snowplowman, would do? NO or even Pook? NO.

This is why I'm so adamant about calling out KBJ's because you hear a bunch of great typing but nothing to inspire

tread softly

I don't think the issue is comparing yourself to other DJs per se, but applying what for them and seeing it it's applicable in your life.

Off topic, what made Snowplowman the GOAT?

I mean everyone has someone who inspired them on the site, a lot of cats would say it's Pook  some would say it's Rollo Tomassi

It's irrelevant honestly IMO it's Snowplowman to me because his take on the game has helped me out the most cause I've tested it espeically the mindset aspect

We should all strive for greatness though

Before Lebron there was Michael Before Michael there was Dr J before Dr J there was Jerry West and so on

It's not human nature. It's what you've been conditioned to do so you will feel things like you are feeling now: contempt to sympathy. How do you think they keep you buying ****.

Change your thoughts and realize its all conditioning. Let it go.

Pray tell, how is he "conditioned"? In a society where we are always told, from early on in school and onward, that "we Westerners are so materialistic" while other peoples are "living in harmony with nature" and are more "spiritual". There are tons of movies and TV shows with that B.S. message. I remember textbooks in school telling us how deep and unmaterialistic communist and Buddhist countries were - a load of crap, the entire world outside the West wastes natural resources, buys cheap things and throws them away with no concern, just like we hear from teachers and media that we Westerners are doing. No, I think it is you who have been conditioned to always accuse the West of being negative in every respect, and for that you need to be ignorant of other cultures, even while you think you are so very cosmopolitan.

Isn't this basically what women are doing with hypergamy?
Comparing one male to another and deciding which has more to offer as a mate?
