Okay, I know I'm going to take some flak for posting this, but it's a thought I have, so oh well. Not trying to p!ss anybody off, just thinking aloud.

Why do some of the guys here have shirtless pics of themselves as avatars here on the board? King of Puss and Tenacity come to mind. This is no knock on them because I respect them both as posters. I'm just thinking, this isn't a dating forum, there are no (well, damn few) women around here to impress. And I know I certainly don't have any interest in seeing some dude's bare torso.

What's next? Are guys going to be posting pictures of their junk on here?

I wondered the same.

OP is right.

No need for that. No need for that on dating sites either.

I personally admire their confidence.

If it were chicks in slvutty outfits, everybody would be saying how awesome these chicks are for being "strong, independent women."

But when a guy goes shirtless, he's an arrogant self-absorbed pig.
Agreed, they are subconsciously agreeing with their feminized conditioning.

If they worked really hard to re-build a car, and were proud of their work, and used that car as an avatar?

Same concept. Don't feel threatened, let them post whatever they like.
I would agree with the above if not for the fact it's clear some of these posters don't seem comfortable in their own skin.

As such it's probably this:

I can't speak for the other poster named, but personally, I put my shirtless pics up on here (and on my dating profiles) to promote health and fitness. In relation to the dating profiles, I just get a side benefit of some women being turned on by it.

Can't please everybody though and I don't seek to. Some people will see it as arrogance or "seeking validation" or whatever, that's fine, listen I have never got up here and asked anybody to "like" Tenacity lol.

However, no matter your personal feelings towards me, what you can't say is that I didn't set a goal, stick to it, and have results. That's the main message behind the posting of the shirtless pics, it's to promote the importance of health and fitness because a lot of problems in your life can be traced BACK to poor nutrition and exercise.

This sounds like hatin' to me. It's a men's forum, and fitness is a big part of it. I like seeing what other guys are doing, health-wise. And it seems to be working for Tenacity (except for his farting issues, haha). A little vanity is OK IMO, as long as it doesn't spill over into arrogance.

At the end of the day, I don't look at their avatars and think, "D*MN, I wish they'd take that down!" Just not a big deal in my mind.

Someone said that this is not bodybuilding.com, but we still have a health and fitness forum.
List of appropiate avatar pics:
  • Your muscles
  • A hot girl
  • An ultra-alpha
  • Schopenhauer
  • Your car
  • An obelisk
Feel free to add suggestions.

Maybe it's the same reason some put on Captain Kirk as their profile pic. :)

Hmm. When I read that my thread had been moved to a different forum, I figured it would be the "Hall of Excellence". :)

But when a guy goes shirtless, he's an arrogant self-absorbed pig.
Espi, I certainly didn't call anyone an arrogant self-absorbed pig. It's just a matter of aesthetics. I don't come here to see male bare skin. But it's a minor quibble, nothing to get upset over.

I've been using this product called Fortify for the last 30 days and it's made a difference (so far, still testing it out). So it's a probiotic and supposed to help with situations like this. My doctor ran some tests and didn't find anything major with the blood work, he wants to do some "ultra sounds" but I said not right now.

I finished the first 30 day bottle and I'm starting on the second bottle today, let's see what happens over the next 30 days :)

I don't tend to follow the fads but the whole probiotic and gut-health thing, I think is legit. I do think many of us have candida overgrowth due to the crap we've eaten for years. I don't know that there is really a way to 'fix' it quickly. I think for the most part, you just have to cut down on the sugars and refined carbs, and let your body slowly heal itself. It didn't get that way overnight, so it won't heal overnight. Hopefully taking probiotics can speed up the process, at least in my case. I'm taking Athletic Greens as part of my intermittent fasting. John Romaniello's method, essentially.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

I also like it because it puts a face to my name. Sometimes for me, I find it weird to get advice or suggestions from guys with question mark avatars. I have no idea who this person is, hell it could be a 300lb woman.
I don't see any problem with people that do this, but I also don't think it should be a requirement either. I think that's sort of the point of message boards, get differing opinions from different anonymous sources and figure out what's the truth. Your reputation comes with your posting content.
