Well i set my gf straight about making cracks at me knowing stuff. She never says a derogatory thing bout me anymore, i think i played it perfectly, i demanded respect in a way, but was still nice to her at the same time. It really worked.
But what do u guys think of this? We were goin to see the conan obrian show, and she told me Chuck Schumer was the guest. So i'm like oh is he still a senator (i admit thats pretty bad i dont know that, i know Hillary and Frank Padavan are, so i assume he's not anymore), but she was like oh i have no idea bout stuff like that. She didnt even know the name of nyc's mayor. For those of u who dont know, its Mike Bloomberg. She lives on long island, i cant fathom how she wouldnt know the mayor of nyc. He's been mayor for like 5 or 6 yrs. I asked her and she said "it starts with a G right?"
So i mess with her and i say yea its guliani, and she like yea see thats it.
And i go oh my god!, he was the 9/11 mayor who is now running for president, he left office 6 yrs ago, how can u possibly not know this?
She got all upset and said, i dont like when people grill me like that. I knew it just couldnt think of it. I dont care about that stuff at all. So thered be no reason why id know it.
I reply "thats not something u go out of ur way to learn, u just do cuz ur not living under a rock! how do u not know the mayor of ur city, and governor of ur state (she also didnt know that). It's almost impossible not to. Especially when you are about to graduate from a masters program from a good univeristy which she is about to this spring.
I have no interest in politics either but i know whos in office in my state, who the candidates are, and what parties theyre in.
I just thoguht her not knowing that was really frightening. Would u guys be as scared as i am bout her not knowing the mayor and governor of where she lives, and being proud about it? I really like this girl, and she seems smart with everything else. When it comes to her field she is really smart. She is so good at scientific stuff, she knows all these facts boiut medicine and chemistry and stuff. And she has a good vocabulary and is smart all around. Could this just be her achilles heel? Should i let it go? SHe claims its the one thign she is horirble at. I dunno what do u guys think?
