Long story short, in part of my push-pull game, this girl who i've been messing around with for about a good two years and I got into an arguement. In this process of pulling her back, she asks me in a text message "Do you love me?". Originally, I didn't reply back. I was startled. But then about a hour later she sends the same question again. I told her something along the lines of "yeah, i believe I do, but it's a complicated feeling".

She told me the same thing in pretty much the same words, which makes me think she would have said whatever i said anyways.

What should I have done? I didn't wanna hurt her feelings because I really like her and want her around, but i didn't want to tell her i loved her right then or seem like a punk.

(PS: I wish she would have asked in person. I would have said "No, I hate your guts" and kissed her passionately......darn text messaging....)

It's a very sensitive subject to be talking about, especially difficult if one party is not feeling that mutual 'love'

Just continue behaving the same way, don't let that message change the course of social dynamics between you two.

Rule #1: You don't like a text message.... don't answer it.

Don't have serious conversations over text.

I was watching some video on YouTube awhile back, there was some girl on there who was supposedly some sort of dating specialist, I have no idea who she was. Anyway, she said that when your girl asks you this question, you should smile and say "I suppose so".

Of course, that's face to face and this is texting, and it also sounds like your relationship is more casual, so I don't know if you would be comfortable with saying that or not. But I thought I'd throw it out there. It's probably no worse than "yeah, i believe I do, but it's a complicated feeling".

Don't take women's advice on dating.

Answers like that are too generic and boring.
