In SCHOOL FOR SCOUNDRELS, Jon Heder plays Roger, a beleaguered New York City meter maid who is plagued by anxiety and low self-esteem. In order to overcome his feelings of inadequacy, Roger enrolls in a top-secret confidence-building class taught by the suavely underhanded Dr. P (Billy Bob Thornton). Aided by his assistant, Lesher (Michael Clarke Duncan), Dr. P uses unorthodox, often dangerous methods, but he guarantees results: Employ his techniques and you will unleash your inner lion. Surrounded by a band of misfit classmates - Walsh (Matt Walsh), who's dying to move out of mother's basement; Diego (Horatio Sanz), a punching bag for his hen-pecker of a wife; and Eli (Todd Louiso), a shy guy just looking for female companionship - Roger's confidence grows and he makes his way to the head of the class, even finding the courage to ask out his longtime crush, Amanda (Jacinda Barrett). But Roger quickly discovers that star students have a way of catapulting Dr. P's competitive side into high gear. Soon enough, the teacher sets out to infiltrate and destroy Roger's personal and professional life. Nothing is off limits for Dr. P, not even the object of Roger's affection. In order to show Amanda Dr. P's true colors, Roger must rally his new friends and find a way to beat the master at his own game.

Trailer

I think this movie will be pretty good. Not like Swingers type "info", but more along the lines of The 40 Year Old Virgin. Just enough to make the plot work. But anything with Billy Bob Thorton as a wise ass is usually hilarious, and great for those one liner scenes, ala Bad Santa.

The movie had potential, but ultimately failed. Heder is great at playing a loser, but sputters when he actually has to act like an alpha male. Billy Bob was great. A couple lines cracked me up. "I used to be like you, but look at me now - I'm dating two Asian chicks at the same time"

But as far as learning anything from the movie, no way.

"You think you're in love, and everything's great. Then next thing you know, you're adopting little chinese kids."

Lol, that was awesome. Total shot at himself. Good times.

I did see the movie yesterday (with a date) and a couple of things:

Actually there are a couple things that did pop into my head and reaffirmed what being suave is all about.

Two good rules that the class followed:

1) NEVER EVER COMPLIMENT:

my analysis: I noticed that latley when I go on dates, I don't compliment. Why? because If I look into her eyes, touch her, kiss her and fvck her that pretty much affirms to them that you find them attractive. Saying it sort of desensitize everything. However I am sure once you are in LTR its ok to give a compliment here or there because things are pretty much already desensitise.

2) BE DANGEROUS, ITS FUN :

my analysis: In the movie what Heder did was prefect. They started off by having dinner and talking about sh1t and he was getting nowhere with his other rules so she mentioned to him about the poor live lobsters in the tank that are going to die. What Heder did was he stoled the live lobsters and placed them in a bag and run out of the resturant with her and released them in the river. That will work alright.

The Billy Bob book store pick up was great too. I actually think its the best way to pick up a chick in a book store. He simply held a book in his hand and slowly walked to her and ask her "excuse me do you work here?" and then proceed to ask her about looking for a specific book and then took the conversation from there. That is a very good approach.

Other then that the movie had very few good concepts but failed because it wasn't that funny.

Re:

Haven't seen the movie, but I will being go soon. Possibly tonight.

On comedy movies...you want good stuff, Bill Murray.
~Ghostbusters.
~Caddy Shack
~Spies Like Us
~Stripes

Or John Candy, his early stuff.

Or Chevy Chase. I have man love for National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. I can watch that movie at anytime of the year, and it ALWAYS cheers me up. The girl in the langerie scene is to die for, and she looks unbelievable in his pool scene dream.

I loved Wedding Crashers, except for the AFC turn around ending that came about. I thought it was brilliant how they made it funny for the 2 hours it lasted; far too many movies quit early, and kill character development, and the flow of the movie.

Ever see Wet Hot American Summer? Fawking hilarious, too. See it. One of the best lines..."I want you inside me." Couldn't sound more gay, but it was mumbled by a GUY to a GIRL.

I've dug Grandma's Boy quite a bit, too. Something about it, makes it seem, like it could be me, or you, or all of us. Just like Office Space. I like comedies that seem like they could happen, or do happen, where the comedy isn't forced or staged, but occurs because funny people observe funny things.

I like Dane Cook, but the movies he does with "Van Wilder" haven't been spectacular.

Animal House is up there; a must own for any comedy collection.

I know I'm leaving some off. Carlin is a riot, and who can't appreciate Dennis Leary's Cracked out approach?
