There are actually benefits. I think I've read a bit about it. Go to google and type it "sauna muscle benefits".

I don't know anything about the benefits of a sauna, but you sweat like a bankok wh0re when you're in them, so make sure to re-hydrate.

the warmth increases blood flow and thus enhances recovery, however hot and cold showers achieve the same thing more effectively.

Are you referring to a sauna which produces wet heat (steam) or dry heat? I've tried both, and feel as though the steamroom opens up my lungs and skin, making my shower that much better later. The dry heat sauna leaves me feeling nothing but sweaty. However, for relaxation after working out I like the hot tub.

WBA--can you elaborate on hot & cold showers for recovery? (I'm interested more in the mechanics than in the justification--I can understand how they might benefit recovery, but I'm curious about timing, etc.)

Sitting in a hot, steamy room with a bunch of half-naked men? If you're homosexual there are plenty of benefits - else get the heck out of the gym right after your workout as there's a large meal at home that requires your immediate attention.

Leave the sauna to the weenies.

I've read that the best benefits come around 3 hours or so after you lift. I might just look this stuff up and type me a nice little article sometime soon.

oh for ****s sake..

going in a sauna does not make you gay

gay is when you have sexual interest in other men. If you have no sexual interest in other men (including half-naked ones in a sauna with you), then you are, by definition, NOT GAY.

I rest my case.

It seems your mind is on the men in the sauna and not on the relaxation that you yourself get from it. I wonder why you even signed up for a gym that has a sauna? Perhaps so that you could peek at the half-naked men in the sauna to please your heterosexual curiosities? The big joke is that you act like you've never seen another man naked before. We all get changed in the same locker-room and people in the locker-room are completely naked when they get changed, take a shower, etc. You got major insecurities.
