I just got back from a wake for my neighbor, who was only a few years older than me. He committed suicide in college. I never really knew him all that well, but he lived right next door.

I did a pretty good job holding back the tears for most of the 2+ hour line, but once I got to the casket and saw his mother and father standing there...

It damn near broke my heart. I can't imagine what would drive somebody to do something like that, that would destroy their whole family.

No parent should have to bury their child, especially for something so senseless. I saw my grandfather bury my uncle, but I was too little too see how truly sad it was.

This kid was in the prime of his life. The heartbreak on the parents' faces said it all...

I guess I just needed to get it off my chest. Discuss if you want, but don't turn this into any kind of political-religious flame war.

He was 20.

My Dad keeps talking about "they're not completely sure what happened" but I'm pretty sure he's full of BS.

He was found hanging. They found him Saturday morning but the family didn't get called till like 3pm that afternoon, so maybe that's why my dad thinks something is fishy. I think he did it himself, though it's so hard to believe- he was always happy, did a lot of sports, had hot girlfriends...
