First, read the following:
"" What are the differences between Russian and American Men?
Eto ochen’interesniy vopros! I have been thinking about this question a lot recently as I am finding Russian men quite intriguing as I get to know them. Although I have not met too many Russians in my life, only a handful really, I do notice some very interesting characteristics that are quite different from their American counterparts.
To make a fair comparison, I am really thinking of the same social/success level of both groups: middle class, educated, professional.
The first thing that comes to mind is that I think Russian Men are more masculine and sexy (perhaps circumcision DOES make a difference))!) Is their strong masculinity because of them being raised in a more traditional family environment or from Russian society as a whole?
Their body language shows a lot of attitude, which is very cool and illustrates a strong sense of who they are. I find this sexy and enjoyable to watch. It also makes me feel more feminine and sexy when I am with them. American men seem a bit “watered down” in this respect. Their masculinity seems diluted into a sort of superficial Hollywood image of how they think they are supposed to be, instead of truly feeling this way. And then there are the guys who just don’t really care- “what...ever”. But most American women seem to like it this way. A big reason for it is the way men and women are portrayed in the media I think. Messeges of what we are supposed to like.
I have this personal theory that here in America, with so many ethnic groups here, inter-marriages, mixed neighborhoods, etc. people become sort of weakened in their own culture unavoidably as they become more American. It is a “Melting Pot” of different cultures and this has its positive and negative effects. American men (and woman) are becoming almost asexual or really more like each other in many ways. Their sexual identity is becoming watered down just like their culture. Just look in any J. Crew, GAP, Banana Republic or Abercrombie & Fitch store or catalogue and you’ll get a sense of genderless attitude. The sporty look rulz baby!
This is not so with Russians. What I enjoy about Russians as a whole is how clearly defined they are. I think the women, as well as the men encourage this strong definition in each other. They feed off of each other’s sexually it seems. I LOVE the Russian women as well! They are very cool.
NOTE: I am talking about the ones who were NOT raised here in this country and who have become more or less, “Americanized”.
Russian men dress like men! I love the way they dress. You never see them wearing shorts and rarely jeans. They seem to take pride in their appearance but I am told that this is a recent development in Russian society. A girlfriend from St. Petersburg told me that there is a saying, “A man who looks better then the devil is a handsome one”.
American men seem to take better care of their teeth and hair. If I had to make one suggestion to Russian guys it would be for ALL of them to get their teeth whitened professionally and have them cleaned every 6 months. I don’t know if it is because of all their smoking or too many antibiotics taken as a child but they will get more girls chasing after them and have more success in job interviews, careers, etc. if they consider this suggestion.
Is it a throwback from communist times that a Russian guy’s uniform seems to be black pants and a black leather jacket?
I mean, I think I would just fall off my bar stool if a Russian walked into a bar wearing, God forbid, a BROWN suede coat! Is the black leather really a fetish for dog’s noses?
Seriously, I do like all the black and think it adds to the mystique of Russian Males.
As for manners, Russian men are far more gallant. They hold car doors open for ladies because they want to, not because they have to. Or at least, they do a pretty good job making me believe this) I have NEVER been treated so well as by a Russian man. They have much better manners then their American counterpart and the Russian women that I have talked to about this all agree!
I mean, sure, when I go to a store like WAWA for example to get a cup of coffee, guys will hold the door open always but that’s not really going out of their way. I do it even for other women because I think it is polite but American guys are so into themselves that they don’t put women first. I think Russian guys DO put women first when they are with them. That in turn makes women feel more appreciated and feminine and hopefully will give their man the devotion they deserve.
As far as personality? Russians are definitely ****ier. But their ****iness is amusing which brings me to their sense of humor. I have NEVER met funnier guys! Da, ochen cynical and sarcastic with a lot of irony but soooooooo funny and clever! SO intelligent!
Devotion to family seems to be such a wonderful characteristic as well. I think that it is valid to say that some American families are not as strong as they once were and it seems that the Russian culture offers values (at least on the surface) that focus on placing importance on family.
Some of the Russians I know are the sweetest guys I have ever met with the nicest manners. I only hope that as they spend more time in this country that they don’t lose sight of these wonderful characteristics that they possess that make them so special. Several people have told me that Russian women are more likely to become “more American” then Russian men. I hope this is true. I mean, I adore Russian women as well but I just hope that they BOTH, don’t become too “Americanized”."
NOW
This defines me 100% except that I do not smoke and have great teeth.
I am what you would defined traditionally a Russian guy in my behavior.
You tell me what my advantages are and disadvantages are with American women.
One thing - I do not watch MTV and I am NOT into pop culture. I'm into sh*t that I like and I could care less what others have to say about it.
I've been rejected once in my life by a girl, with a hint that maybe later something may happen (she had a BF).
I have never been a girl's best friend.
My BIG problem - girls flake AFTER 1st or 2nd date. Often, with a complaint "Yeah...you won't call me again..." or something like that. They get discouraged by my behavior. Not enough affection?
I am always told by girls that I more masculine than American guys. However, I'm not sure if she meant the majority AFCs or what?
Another thing - if its a social event, I do NOT try to stand out. I am just me there, and I never had the ALPHA guy say sh*t to me. Its primarily my body language and I just look at him like "You **** with me, I KICK your ass"
And it seems girls like me for that more than that guy who talks to everyone and stuff..
