I'm going to run a 10k tomorrow, I've ran this race multiple times in the past, with little to no training. I find that training for running is boring so I usually just go balls out on running day.

Any advice to make this easier?

I plan on carb loading tonight (not recommended for losing weight, but a huge energy boost)
Consume caffiene shortly before race

Anything else?

P.S. it will be 9 °F tomorrow.

You're going to drink caffine before a 10k race in 10 degree weather?

Francisco is right. Caffine isn't the best idea. That being said, I do it before shorter races (like a 10K) and I do notice an imrovement in times.

Also there is really no point in carbo loading a night prior for a 10k. You're better off being sure to hydrate and eating a small, high carb breakfast.

For the cold? Run some distance before, and, up until the race starts.

I don't think that was sarcasm, as much as incredulousness. Subtle but important difference.

The statement that struck me as odd was "I find that training for running is boring so I usually just go balls out on running day."

I run for college, and all I can say is just pace yourself in the first 5k. Go for a goal time and try to get it. Try to focus on your breathing in the cold weather. Try to latch onto someone as well that is around your ability or higher. Have a good time. Let us know the results.

Hydration would be more more important cold weather to keep you from bonking, especially since no real training was done. Then drinking a diuretic to cap it off?!! Bulking up with all those carbs the night before without proper hydration is one way the bulk of those carbs will be converted to fat and stored instead of being converted to energy.

I popped PowerGels as a joke one time in the first part of a 10K.

A little caffeine never hurts. Just drink enough water that you are peeing up to the time of the race. Although beware of hyponatremia.

In cold weather races I always layer it up with a pair of shorts under track pants and a t-shirt with a sweatshirt over it and then finally my track jacket.

Gloves and hat wouldn't hurt either.

Hopefully is wasn't the raspberry flavor. The red color would throw up a bunch of questions.

I HATE those and if I'm doing anything shorter than a half-marathon I'll avoid them like tha plague. But I got to admit, placebo or not I always feel better afterward.

I think chocolate GU is my fave.
