I'm in so so shape right now...I had knee surgery recently which has prevented me from working out the way I like. I'm almost 5'11" tall, and my waist feels like it's grown to at least 34". I'm not sure how much I weigh. I'm going to be buying a scale and weighing myself daily. My goal is to get under 168 lbs. w/ a nice sheet of muscle. My main weakness is snacking : cheese and crackers, chips, chocolates, and huge amounts of diet Pepsi and diet Coke. I don't drink or smoke.
My Doctor has cleared me to start running again (albeit very easy) next week. My passion is full contact, hard style Japanese Karate. I haven't been able to do it since I was diagnosed with my knee tear last October. I really miss it. I'm 45, so things heal a little slower......
As soon as I get the scale, I'll start posting my weight and reporting how my shirts feel.........
Wish me luck !

Just weighed myself on my new scale. 180 lbs. Now I know that doesn't sound bad, but my body is starting to look like Boomhauer's from "King of the Hill". Plus my legs are like sticks of jello from inactivity due to the surgery. Goal for next Friday : 178 lbs

Trying to do better with diet. Had oatmeal with organic maple syrup for breakfast, an early lunch of stir fry chicken that I prepared myself. I'm limiting myself to 4 cans of diet coke today.

If you need some motivation, google aspartame and the other stuff they have in diet products. It's not healthy AT ALL.
To add onto that, it is anecdotaly(if thats the word) proven that diet coke makes you fatter/makes it harder to lose weight.

Good luck.

Breakfast was scrambled egg whites with Feta cheese with tea. Lunch was a tuna sandwich and diet coke. Today I'm only drinking 3 cans

I've really been working my quads (the muscles which turn soft after ACL surgery). They're starting to feel much stronger. Workout in a few hours, followed my another kind of workout with my female training partner:yes:

Dude, you gotta post a more definitive diet. Plan and stick to it. Your gains and progress will come SOOOO much quicker! Let me know if you need help planning it.

Ha. Read between the lines Bro :I've been cheating on my diet (I guess I should drop the word "Accountability" from the thread title ).
Today's breakfast was a cheese quesadilla. I'm planning on drinking only jasmine tea all day until 5 PM. No food. You've given me advice before. Much appreciated !!!!!!!!!!!
PS Last night was Heavy Bench Press, Plank, Curls, Pullups, Kettlebell swings. The ab workout got interrupted by a makeout session that ended up in the bedroom.

your diet isn't going to get any better if you don't plan it out. i know it's a *****, but it has to be done. simply 'balancing' **** out wont cut it. it's up to you though. if you want to half ass it, you'll get half ass results.

btw, are we talking kyokushin here? cool stuff.

I know. I need to buckle down. It's very frustrating because I want to get in better shape for my Karate, but I can't do my Karate yet. It's like learning on bunch of stuff on these boards, yet being confined to living in a monestary.
Kyokushin yes

whats stopping you?

worst case, do mirror work and shadow box (shadow karate?). get fluid in your technique and make it second nature to your body.

i know where you're coming from though. it's hard when you can't actually see the fruits of your labor. i didn't (and usually dont) restrict my diet until i started sparring/fighting competitively. now its second nature. ladies dont mind either.

good luck

I can't even shadowbox yet because I get my power from my legs and hips, so just doing a simple combination is still putting too much stress on my repaired ACL. I don't want to shadowbox by compromising my movements because I don't want to build incorrect muscle memory. The good news is that complete recovery is now sooner than later.

I'm doing better. Last night I wanted ice cream...instead I had a small bowl of cottage cheese w/ honey, then I stayed up and prepared chicken for my lunch today (OK, I did add sugar and honey to the chicken mixture). My breakfast was cottage cheese w/ honey and Jasmine tea.

Lunch was chicken by itself with a can of diet Coke.
One of my girlfriends came over for an early dinner :
Chicken tacos(2)
Salad with Japanese Miso dressing
Scoop of Ben and Jerry's
She then baked me chocolate chip cookies. I had 3....no more food for today

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

179. I thought it would be more. My pants feel a little looser. I have made adjustments to my diet, but obviously more is needed. My knee is continuing to improve. Over the weekend a friend helped me install a nice bracket and frame to hold a heavy punching bag.

180.
I've been slipping on the diet. My breakfast today ? Donuts and Diet Coke. I believe I'm missing some sort of moderation gene in my DNA. So.........Sigh...I need to do with junk food what I did with alcohol : Cut it out completely. I know that if I can kick alcohol completely (which I did), I can quit sweets/junk food. So I'm making this commitment now : I want to fight as a middleweight in Oct, so no more crap in my body til then. No exceptions. No cake on Birthdays, no chips cause I'm suddenly hungry at the gas station. Moderration does not work with me.
