I fukked up my rotator cuff over a month ago, and it's not healing anymore. I can use the arm now, which is better than it was a while ago, but it still hurts when I try to do too much. Has anybody ever had a rotator cuff problem, or does anybody know what I can do to help it heal?

Rotator Cuff injuries really are nasty because they take so long to fully heal (due to the composition of the tendons and ligaments).

Best advice given is to see a doctor, or even better a professional physio therapist, where they will be able to fully access your injury, and create a program for you that will aid in the recovery of your shoulder.

If t feels better, get back into it slowly. If it's that bad, yeah see a Dr.

I started right to work on the same exact injury less than a week into my start at competitive swimming. (Too many pushups were tightening my chest too much for my back to keep me leveled out, and swimming pinched at my by-then-rolled-too-far-forward shoulder.)

My coach told me to stretch my shoulder every day, slowly and steadily (well, duh: it's a stretch!;)), for a few minutes. It felt better almost immediately.

While I didn't tear my cuff or anything that severe, I still say that if a month afterwards you can use the arm again, sit down on your floor with your legs out in front of you, and crawl your hands back until your chest/shoulder are stretching (or, of course, until it hurts so bad you can't breathe). Hold that for a bit, then do it again.

Then, stand up and find a wall. Put your hand on the wall a little more than shoulder height (arm fully extended), then turn your body away from the wall, stretching your chest and shoulder again.

Again, slow and steady wins the race, and if you start to experience more pain, go see a doctor ASAP.

In this Economy?
if it is serious you should be in rehab

BTW if you lift weights i wouldnt suggest it for quite a while

once something like your RC gets injured it is never the exact same again

I did the same to my RC.

Like a jackass I took a couple weeks off then got back into the gym - working around the pain.

Well almost 2 yrs later I still am not 100%.

Bottom line is I fvcked it up far worse than it was. I kept training not wanting to take a break.

I went to the Dr. - and the idiot game me anti infamitories - told me it was tendinitous.

Well he was wrong.

Go to a specialist - get physio.

My shoulder finally began to gain strength and mobility when I started doing exercises and rehab.

Almost back to full strength thank God.

Yeah, I got put in a kimura arm lock in a BJJ class. My arm hurt like hell and although it healed, it still hurts and that was in mid september, now it's the beginning of december. I can do do things on it, but if it gets too much stress on it, I know I wont be able to take it.

I play baseball too, and my teammate f*cked up his RC a couple years ago. What you gotta do is rest for a year. It might be hard, but you have to bring an injury like this back slowly. Swinging a bat is not recommended, but if you gotta do it, being your teams' DH isnt too harmful.
