There are many website that has a small database of rooms and roomates. They usually want sround $30 per month for the access to their system. It is not big deal to pay it, but one site has a very small database of roomates and paying $30 at each site is just too much.

How did you look for a room\roomates?

Try craigslist.com or even your local neighborhood newspaper. Occasionally you can find people posting that they need or would want to be a room mate.

Most apartment complexes have programs in place to help potential roommates find each other... at least around my area. Ask the apartment's office what they'd recommend you do to find someone to live with you - since it's in their best interests they'll be more than happy to help.

Guys, thanks for the ideas. I trid craiglist - it is not popular in my area unfortunately. Local newspapers have all crap we can imagine except "looking for a rommate", gotta look for more newspapers.

This is a very creative idea about apartment complexes - I would never thought about it.
....actually I wish I would understand the logic behind it: apartment complexe is interested in renating out apts, once a person signed a lease, well.. they dont care anymore if he has roomates or not.

Anyway, thats a good suggestion since it is new. I'll ask them.
Thanks!

Anyone idea - how to find roomates\rooms? When you move to a new town and say want a room to stay... how do you conduct your search? Is there any good free website with roomate board?

Here goes - the apartments want to make money. You provide them with that money by leasing a place to live. If you can't afford to live by yourself, you have three options:

1) Find a cheaper place to live (they lose potential revenue)
2) Find a roommate and live there (they make money)
3) Make more money somehow (unrealistic for most people)

Since 1 takes money away from them, and it's unlikely you'll be able to do 3, that leaves us with 2. If they help you find a roommate, they're helping themselves rent out an apartment, which makes them cash. I don't know how else to say it without being repetitive.

Another idea - go to the local university and check out their social spot (i.e. the LSU Union) as well as the university's paper. Usually the Union (or whatever it's called there) will have bulletin boards with "Roommate wanted" fliers on it... and the school paper will have "Roommate wanted" sections as well. If it doesn't, call the paper and ask them what they'd recommend... since they've got their finger in all things to do with campus they could definitely give you a more personalized and useful answer then the generalizations thrown out on a board where nobody knows your town.

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

diablo, Thanks!
The logic does make sense....if they really take care about the business, they should do the roomate programs as well. I'll figure that out.

Local campus newspaper writes about some weird things, I have never saw they had a roomate section.

But I appreciate you advice: while it seems simple I could not think about asking the leasing office or local newspaper. (Why? I assume those people dont give a damn about roomates program.)

I registered at two websites (but without paying them, it is tough to get any resposnes), did craiglist. Posted ad on campus.
Next week I'll talk to the newsapaper folk and leasing office.
