I have no start up capital, so I'm looking for something that requires minimal costs, but will enable me to attain maximum profit. However, i understand that i won't be able to achieve huge profits with little capital in the first place.

I haven't got many ideas. so far i've thought of:

  • Leaflet distribution
  • Car washing

Car Washing

I live about a 7 minute walk away from a big supermarket that has a huge car park where i was thinking i could do the car washing thing.

Problem is, i don't know if i would have to set up a meeting with the manager, how would i get the manager to meet with a 16 year old, would the supermarket be getting a share of the profits?

Leaflet Distribution

I live in an area with lots of small business and many big ones too, so hopefully many of the small ones (pizza shops, restaurants etc) and possibly the bigger ones would like some leaflet distribution.

How would i get clients to let me distribute their leaflets? Should i get business cards/ leaflets advertising my business?

As you can most probably tell, i'm very inexperienced so i'd be very open to suggestions/ criticism/ further business ventures.

I like your ideas. You might have to talk to the owner of the lot, and make a deal with him.

Your only 16.. I think it would be a little hard to start your own business right away. Though, you could do weekly yard work for people. Window washing for a business, or get a regular job.

here is my issue with this

He is 16 years old. It will be very difficult for him to start his own business. HOWEVER, the experience of him trying and doing real work (lawn mowing or whatever he is considering) will help him mature and become a better man. Poker is an easy route to make a little extra money, but sitting on your ass in your room all day playing poker is not how a young guy should be spending his life. He needs to be out there outside of his house doing something, dealing with people.

I offer this advice from experience. I used to play poker to make money and I regret the countless hours i spent in front of the computer where i could have been doing something outside of the house instead. I still play poker but i now do it for fun, every once in a while.
