Lately I have been making awesome progress in the gym and for once I was feeling pretty good about myself. So, just to even things out for me, the gods decided to bless me with a fvcking cracked rib. So I missed all last week's workouts and I guess I have to take this week off too because I can't even lay on my back without feeling a ton of pain in my ribs. I'm already feeling like my body is softer. I feel like sh*t when I can't lift and my confidence completely plummets to zero. So no matter what I am going to work out starting next monday. I won't stop unless my fvcking rib snaps and I have to be carried out on a stretcher. My life seriously always goes like this. If something is making me happy, it will be abruptly taken from me. It feels like there's some kind of force that doesn't want me to succeed. But I will ride on regardless and try to make up for lost time in the coming weeks.

Anyone ever had an injury like this or one that prevented them from lifting? If so, what did you do?

That's a terrible idea. This isn't some movie. This isn't win one for the Gipper, nor are you fighting Apollo Creed.

Here's a better one: heal. In the meantime read everything you can on strength training.

Oh no your life is over! You can't lift for a month or two! What are you going to do? How about you be a fvcking man about the situation! Say "Hey, I got some sh1t luck happening to me right now, but things happen and it could always be worse. I'll take this time to read a book or catch up with some old friends." But no, you look at the negitive side of everything which makes you a no good pvssy.

You're whining like a 2 year old! You're a man! If you go a little soft because you can't lift for a while than GOOD. It means you're going to have to work even harder to get back into to where you were. Don't be a "tough" (stupid) guy and hit the gym with an injury. Wait until you fully recover and you can do things right.

Here's to a speedy recovery

As for actual advice. . .heal. Even minor injuries will severly limit the progress you make at the gym. See a doctor before you decide to lift. You might be able to do some exercises even when you're not 100%, talk to your doctor about it.

While you're injured, Always stay productive. Concentrate on your academics/career. Read some good books. Hangout with some friends.
