Because those people aren't happy with themselves. They rely on others to make them happy.

That happiness is fleeting, because it's conditional.

These people will also hop from partner to partner before you even know what's happening, as they don't think anyone can love them since they don't love themselves.

They just don't know if they like you or not. They might get involved with you and after months of relationship when they urge of being with somebody is satisfied come to realise that they don't like you.
