i have been working out pretty consistently since about sophomore year in high school(im going into my junior year of college) with varied focus. i usually get heavy into weights in the winter then maintain over the summer with lifting a couple times a week and surfing and messing around in the water a bunch.

right now I am 5'8" 150lbs maybe 7% bodyfat

i benched 225 6 times this winter and could be back up to that in a month.

i've never really gotten too serious with legs and mostly did deeps squats with 150lbs and stiff legged deadlifts with 90lbs dumbells.

once i can get back up to 225 6 times how long should i expect before i can put up 300?

also, how much weight should i put on my frame before i start looking retarded? (i'm almost 5'9")

160 and 6% bodyfat?

170 and 6% bodyfat?

also do you guys have any tips on how to increase shoulder strength. right now i can put up 115 military press about 7 times with pretty strict form?

given your numbers I'd concentrate on just doing the lift, no need for anything fancy. 225 x 6 is good but it's not an advanced enough weight to require special techniques. just keep plugging at it and eating and you'll get to 300, simple enough.

however I agree with Espi about putting in close grip benches.

however I do not agree with Espi about putting in shrugs. :D

hey, were are about the same size though I am about 10% bodyfat. I can shoulder press about 140-145 for about 6-7 reps and 90% max about 160@4-5 but I have been pressing for a long time.

If you really want to up your military press, you can just put in more presses on your shoulders day and work on lower reps/sets on your benching days.
Pyramid up from 8-10 reps to 2-3 then down again, throw in some lateral raises for 8-10 and your set.Heavy high rep weighted dips and weighted pull ups also help tremendously in pushing power.A good tip is to tighten your abs and flair your lats as you are holding the weight up(military press).

hope it helps

if all else fails focus soley on becoming strong on the major lifts ie;

squats
military press
deadlifts
bench press
curls
weighted pull ups

i figure i want to gain 20lbs of muscle. i'm 150 now. i was up to 176 at one point in highschool with about 10% bodyfat. i'd like to be at 170 with 5 or 6% bodyfat.

how long should i plan to achieve this?

Espi said:
3 grams carbs. per lb. BW
:nono:

I agree with the year for 20lbs of muscle though. I also agree that 5% bodyfat is verging on stage condition for a bber and is simply unsustainable for the majority of people.. you can stay around 8-10% easily enough though

Nah, 4-5% is about the lowest a human can have for a short time period without serious problems.
7% is VERY low. I say you can have 12% bf and have good 6pack.

225 bp but only 150 squat?
Work on that squat, you'll need it for gaining that poundage you want.
Also, try and do barbell deadlifts.
