Real time chat session

Has anyone considered having on line meetings in real time? Using something like Yahoo!Chat and actually chat in text and voice in real time.

Things covered could include discussing specific real world examples of DJ principles, feedback on boot camps, ideas for expanding some of the principles and related ideas.

A suggestion is to have major meeting once or twice a month and minor, topic specific meeting weekly given by proficient DJ volunteers. We would have to keep it to specific topics to keep the ramblings and sidetracks that would not benefit the masses.

Any thoughts?

Even though crazykid claims to have started the DJ Chat (he initiated the chat, that's all), I'm the one who actually proposed this very idea, and it was quickly absorbed. We were using AOL Chat through AIM/AOLC.

Though the idea that I proposed was weekly meetings with a different topic for each week which is more sensible than per monthly chats. However, most of the time people talked about whatever. The last time I participated was during a chat with the topic of vacation spots for "playtime" if you know what I mean, and it was pretty successful for about 10 minutes.

These kind of chats are more easily accomplished in IRC rather than AIM/AOLC.

im up for doing the chatroom thing but i feel there should be a certain strictness for staying on topic and staying focused on DJ things (and that doesnt include car's )

i was thinking of possibly putting a chat together with those who post somewhat frequently and those that give good advice at that

the truth is that i just dont have the time these days to put something like that together

but you could count on me to chat if you started it up

It's been a couple of years since I last put together organized chat sessions. I'm willing to help put something together as long as there is an interest AND there are willing and knowledgeable people available to assist.

So if there's enough interest AND volunteers to regularly assist (probably on a rotating basis), I will throw together some ideas for the framework of a session.

There's a chatroom on StarChat called #DonJuan where a couple of us are regulars. It's not voice, but sometimes we get some good convo going in there.

Nicholas Hill occasionally tries to host a scheduled/themed chat.

Lately I haven't seen any plans for one.

It's been a month since I first posted this suggestion so I'm updating the thread to see if any more people are interested.

I'd like to set up a scheduled chat that could take place online via Yahoo!Messenger. I'd create a meeting room where we could discuss specific topics during each session. The cool thing about it is that we could use both text and voice.

So what I'd like to know is if there are any of you who would thing a getting together online periodically to discuss specific topics would be beneficial. Also, would anyone like to speak on specific topics, I do not plan on running the entire show.

Yeah, I played around on IRC (DalNet, Efnet, etc.) long ago. I'm not sure if everyone is willing to jump through the configuration hoops of using IRC. Maybe that's just my perception since I just use mIrc as a client.

Yahoo!Messenger has a much lower learning curve plus it allows you to look for women that are online that you can mack to while setting in the seminars.

Think about it, you could possibly get real time help while making a play on an online woman.

Let me know what topics you'd like to lend a hand.

well right now id like to get into some LTR topics.

such as how to keep the guard up, keep it interesting, figuring out the right way to find the right girl.

my mind is wondering right now but i do have a yahoo account so ill check the chatting there

I'm bumping this thread up to find out if there is any more interest in doing real time voice/text chats to go over DJ theories.

I've helped a few guys individually but I think that pooling our knowledge in a real-time medium will help a lot of people.

If done, it is best to go through Yahoo messenger - much easier to use and more available to everyone than any other method
