There's this reality dating show called "A Dating Experiment" where they match two people up, and they hang out on vacation for 5 or 6 days. They have to follow these rules of what this diary tells them to do.
Anyways, the guy was a low self-esteem guy that was kind of chunky, and looked like a not-as-good-looking Toby Maquire from Spiderman. The girl was a little bit better looking than him.
Well, they met up, and she wasn't taken by him off the bat, but she said he was starting to grow on her, and she was become more attracted to him.
Earlier in the show he revealed that he’s lost 35 pounds, and he’s trying to lose more.
Fast forward to their camping trip, and they are sitting at the fire, and this AFC starts opening his mouth:
“I really don’t date a lot. I definitely feel like I’m missing out on a lot of experiences and a lot of education about women and relationships .”
She says, “you’re an attractve guy , you’ve got so much going on, like, you should have more self confidence. “
“Part of the whole thing when I started this summer with the losing weight, and all that stuff, was to build self confidence in myself, and part of that was to be more aggressive, and stop letting things happen to me, and to start making things happen. “
“I don’t know what you think you need to change, but ya know, you are a very good person. “
about THREE SECONDS after she said that, she said, “I’m ready for bed.”
Then they cut to him talking to the camera:
“As sarah and I are going to the tent and getting ready to go to sleep, I’m kind of afraid that I might have unloaded too much. I let too much information out. Too much personal things I’m dealing with. And that I’ve basically pushed myself into the friend zone. “
She says (to the camera), “I am feeling myself pushing away, because I know that maybe my insecurities of his insecurities don’t fit together.”
The next morning, she says, “right now I’m feeling like Brandon’s big sister. He is definitely divulging a lot of information about himself, which I like, but its making me realize how truly self conscious he is.”
He says, “I just keep going over and over in my head, ya know, that things are bad. Things are going nowhere where I want them to go, and if the day ends like this, that will be two or three chances of doing something that I let go. I have to do something.”
“Before sarah and I split up, im going to give her a kiss on the cheek. Im shaking, and I don’t know why. I’m shaking. Im very scared, but I made the decision, so I have to do it.”
It shows them parting, and he gives her a hug, and then he says,
“Hey sarah. Umm. [he looks away, and is fidgeting and says] I feel stupid, but…. Uumm…. [he can’t even look at her] I don’t know when we’re going to see each other again. But… umm…. I just want you to know, that I really like you. I’m glad I got to know you. “
She says, “yeah, me too.”
He goes in to hug her again, and he gets his kiss on her cheek this time.
She says to the camera,
”I got a little awkward for a second, not knowing what that meant exactly. It took me by surprise. "
He says, “what I did was nothing really, but it took everything I had to do it. I want her to know I don’t want to be a friend. Im sick of being friends with everybody. "
The narrator says, “Brandon had his chance. But his inexperience with women caused him to fall back into his old ways. Can the diary now finally help him move from best friend, to boyfriend?”
And we all know the answer to that… haha
At the end of the show, they have the opportunity, if they wish, to show up at a designated time and place, which shows they are interested in each other.
He showed up, but she didn't... haha
