I remember seeing on the bottom of a 'DJ Tip of The Day' e-mail that I should post a tip and some point to help other budding Dj's and not long after that I came across a few points about RANDOMNESS. Mainly how women like spontaneous behaviour, how they like a man to be unpredictable (even if that's not what they say!) and mysterious. They like a man who is constantly showing new and interesting sides to his personality.
Let me introduce something to you which i picked up about 3 years ago, long before I came across this site and something which has definitely helped me develop in several ways over the years. Dice Living.
At the moment your stuck in a pattern, you wake up in the morning and go through your morning routine, go to work, come home, do whatever things you normally do. What hobbies do you have? I’m sure you’ve got a one or two that you routinely do 2, 3 or 4 times a week and then after that you come home and sit down and have your glass of beer/cigarette/joint/computer session at whatever time you normally do – sounds boring. The aim of dice living is to change your patterns, change your routines and change yourself and ultimately do things you’d never normally do, experience things you wouldn’t think of trying, make you stop taking life so seriously and get of your arse and start living.
Sometimes people need a kick up the backside to make them realise what they need to do. Finding this site woke me up in a sense and made me realise that the way I’d been thinking about women and the way I’d been acting around them wasn’t what I needed to do in order to get what I wanted, (And we all know what that is!) I’ve never been that unlucky with women but there’s ALWAYS room for improvement. Dice living woke me up in a different way. It made me realise that there’s no point in taking life seriously, after all life isn’t serious, it’s one big game, and once you can realise that your options and your power are unlimited.
It works like this. You get a dice, any old 6 sided dice, and make a list. You can put anything you want down but it’s normally better to start small.
I’ll give you an example of a list I made last Tuesday.
1. Retail therapy weekend (go out and spend cash on myself)
2. Phone a friend I haven’t seen in a while and arrange to go out
3. Start meditation
4. Plan a holiday for this weekend
5. Eat cereal for lunch
6. Start up a conversation on a dice dictated subject with at least 10 random people during the day
As it happened I got a 1 and spent a nice sum of money on myself over the weekend, I got some nice smelly stuff (inspired by this site) loads of new clothes and a digital camera. Had the dice come up any other number I would have done that.
One very important thing about dice living – YOU MUST DO WHAT THE DICE SAYS.
This is the ONLY rule.
The benefit of using the dice is lost once you start questioning the outcome. JUST DO IT - WITHOUT THOUGHT!!!!!!!!!! Soon your options become limited only by your imagination. Bored in your job? Give the dice 1 out of 6 that you quit and do something totally different. Not sure what to do tonight. THERE HUNDREDS OF THINGS! Make a list, roll the dice, and DO IT!
Because you EGO likes to be in control you’ll find no matter how small the decision you won’t want to do it, for some reason the option the dice didn’t pick always seems better one. IGNORE YOUR EGO - it gets in the way. If you haven’t got an ego how can you get burned, how can you feel failure, how can you care whether you get rejected or not? This is something this website tries to teach you, don’t care about being rejected, don’t worry about it, it’s the girl’s loss, and YOU’RE THE PRIZE. While a lot of this is about boosting your ego, with dice living you need to cast it aside and follow the decision on a whim, your ego will tell you not to follow the dice and try to keep your routines in tact. The ego doesn’t like to loose control. After a while the rush of making a few options and going off down some random path in your life without any care is worth it 100%, it can also be extremely fun!
The whole of human civilisation is a blink of an eyelid in the life of the earth, out of the history of our race your life is a speck of sand on the beach of existence. And yet that small, insignificant decision seems to hold the weight of the universe in it. When you put it in perspective it seems pretty silly that we worry about such trivial things. “Shall I go and chat to that girl?, what’ll happen, I can’t possibly, she might reject me!” Whatever you do it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things so why worry about it!??! Next time you’re in the street/club roll the dice, if it comes up EVEN (2,4,6) go and chat to that girl. Notice that the world carries on, the sun still rises and sets and that you’re still alive. Was the decision really so monumental?
Maybe your thinking “what a great idea” maybe your thinking “this guys a fruitcake” maybe your thinking “what the fcuk is he talking about!?”
Whatever. It’s helped me. I’ve ended up doing some crazy things because of the dice, I’ve also ended up doing some boring things, but at the end of the day I’m always doing new stuff, and that’s what counts.
