I saw the movie today.

Very short movie I must say (no more then an hour and a half). Not much of plot or character development but there was plenty of sh1t being blown up and hundreds of people getting killed in every possible way. Once the action got started in was very entertaining with no CGI (just like the 80's).

It was a nice homage to the second Rambo movie but not better in my opinion.

the critics gave it very bad reviews...but what do they know?? They gave The Bucket List, which is a very good movie, a bad review because they were offended by the plot having something to do with cancer...dumbas$ critics...

I've always been a big fan of the Rambo series (the second is my favorite), and this one was a nice addition. I agree that it does seem a little shorter, though. I think that's because a lot of the mass slaughter got confined to just a few scenes, instead of being spread out and extended like in the previous movies. Also, Rambo has a bunch of guys fighting alongside him, so the movie-makers had to give each of those guys some kills -- to make them seem cool. Watching his friends kill people, of course, detracted from the impact of watching Rambo kill everyone himself. Basically, the movie was a tad more realistic than some of the previous ones. Also, there isn't as much use of vehicles, like tanks and helicopters, as in Rambos 2 and 3.

Finally, I think some of the excellent soundtrack music played during the credits should have been used during the action scenes.

But it was definitely good, nonetheless. I really like how the entire series mocks the stupidity of pacifism and wussiness. Sylvester Stalone seems to hold a pretty solid ideology. He definitely doesn't try to be pc or bash America for no reason. For example, the early movies did bash America somewhat, but primarily they bashed cowardice and people who treat soldiers poorly.

The stupidity of pacifism and "wussiness"? Your alternative must be the extreme intelligence and critical thinking of mindless killing...right? It's not supposed to support an ideology it's a damn stallone movie, blood guts and one liners.

But there is CGI. When the soldiers get blown apart, ect. that is computer graphics my friend. Computer graphics were also used when Rambo set off that Claymore explosion.

That aside, the movie was pretty awesome! It is a throwback to the body count movies of the 80s.

And there is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes it's all about releasing a little frustration.

Well, I disagree. If you actually listen to some of the dialogue, you'll see that the first movie is about people who abuse veterans and about officials who abuse authority. The second movie is about people who don't give a damn about American soldiers. The third movie is about resisting the Soviet Union.

This last movie is about the danger of naive pacifism. The doctor who abhors violence demonstrates the silliness of pacifism most of all. Did you even watch the movie?

A lot of war movies show the hero blow up tons of bad guys, but then they also make it a point to tell the audience that violence is horrible and something to avoid...blah blah blah. Stallone doesn't do that. He just kills people and shows you the horror first hand -- while also showing you that it has a purpose and that the enemies deserve what happens to them.

Your alternative must be the extreme intelligence and critical thinking of mindless killing...right?
None of the killing done by the protagonists is mindless. It is quite calculated.

You guys should give the "Death Wish" series a try. Just pure action packed entertainment! no homo spider man/transformer type stuff, just old school action and justice ;)
