The guy is wanted for violating parole and firing at police, but he is portrayed as domestic terrorist. Funny...DieHard and I were talking about that movie just yesterday.

The released ending is better. If Rambo gets in a shootout and dies in a hail of gunfire, it's just another lame action movie. The ending in the released movie takes an action flick and puts a deep psychological twist on it.

This was a time in America when many kids had come back from "Nam" 5 years or so ago. Many of them had grown up learning to kill, rape, pillage, and do whatever it took to survive. MANY of them had trouble adjusting to a society with laws, let alone a society of civilian p*ssies and politicians, many of whom spit on the soldiers that had either died or been scarred forever in their defense.

Without the released ending, Rambo: First Blood is another cheesy 80s action flick.

A lot of today's soldiers would do well to watch a film like First Blood as it shows what kind of treatment they can expect from their country once their services are no longer needed.

It was well documented abou vets returning from Vietnam and ending up on the scrap heap, no support from their country, betrayed by their government. English soldiers experienced the same after the Falklands.

Platoon is another great Vietnam movie people should watch as today's troops and potential soldiers are being fed way too much propaganda, being led to believe they're heroes fighting evil blah blah. War is never about good vs. evil and never about heroes and villains. It's the stories of the actual vets, people who experienced war first hand, that we should pay attention to.
