I agree with your 2nd paragraph. However, it is already done. There is nothing he can do to reverse it. I don't agree that he should see the girl again. It is regretful what happened but it isn't his responsibility to comfort the girl. In my opinion, i believe it will do more harm than good.

Good post, Exodus. Question (and there's no sarcasm here), if a guy doesn't have himself together yet, how is he expected to just "accept" the huge responsibility of parenthood? If he is not financially or emotionally stable it might not matter how zen he is. I'd like to run a triathlon, but I haven't built up the stamina yet and I'm a weak swimmer so I'd probably drown.

This is life - we did not grow up in an era where war was all there was. Did you think the hundred thousands of men in WWII were ever 'ready' to die in battle or go to war leaving their children and wives behind?

This is also the lesson of life - accepting responsibility (as others have sarcastically described it in different phrases to make light of the matter).

The thing is I personally got married to a BPD for 3 months and escaped her wrath. However, she ended up being pregnant and I had to make the choice to still be a financially responsible father but I could not participate in the child's life due to the fooked up mother (also separated by geographical limitations on different part of the world).

Is it fun paying for a child that you will never know? Not at all. But it is my 'karma' and life - I accept the responsibility that is handed down though nobody is ready for the situation I was in with a messed up woman.

I could have 'ran' as you said, not ready for this and that. But the law, even in different countries, has recipricating orders on child support and will catch up on you in the long run.

Better to find stillness deep down inside and look at things with a straight head. If you did it and it is your responsibility, do your best to move forward and learn from it.

That experience was what brought me here on SS a couple of years ago and has changed who I am as a man and now no longer an AFC. There's a price to pay sometimes for waking up.
