Hey all, I'm just wondering how many people in here have quit smoking pot, and what their experience has been like.

I'm on the road to quitting, its better now, but in the first week I had stopped I was very mentally aggressive, had insanely intense workouts, slept poorly, sex drive was sporadic...I'm not sure if this was cuz i stopped smoking pot, or because of other stressors (I had lotsa school stuff due, did 2000 km on the road in 4 days w/ touring, was taking lotsa stimulants pre-workout, etc).

Previously I was pretty chronic, I'd smoke pot every day. I do notice my mood in elevated in general when I'm not smoking pot.

What are people's experiences w/ quitting smoking pot?

I smoke on and off. The key is moderation. A quarter ounce will last me 3 weeks, and several times each year, I love to hit off the pipe through the given day. Nothing wrong with moderate marijuana use.
That's what I used to say but I realized it's boring and stupid. First of all you don't remember most of the things you did while high, also you feel like sh*t afterwards. It's also expensive and it takes way too much effort to not get caught and worrying always leads to bad trips or paranoia. It also damages throat and lungs, ya u can use water bongs or vaporizers but the chemicals in weed still are bad for your short-term memory.

I did it with my friend about a year ago to "try it out" it's been a year now and now this kid is addicted. (You can get psychologically addicted) He can't get high anymore with usual amounts so he has to buy better quality stuff or smoke more of it. I think weed is in some ways a gateway drug, hardcore pot smokers will eventually build tolerance to it and get bored so they'll try something different like shrooms, coke or acid.

If you want to stop then just be busy, join teams and just go out everyday so you can't do it. Eventually you'll get over the withdrawl symptoms if you get any and realize how much time/money u wasted on that stuff.

The industry I'm in makes it tough to quit. I'm a stripper part-time, and weed is the drug of choice...basically alcohol and abs don't mix, and cigarettes are too addictive and have too many bad effects on health. Weed is a social drug for us, we like to get together and smoke up after a show just to wind down.

Also, i'm a fulltime student, and w/ my training schedule, I like smoking it to help me relax. Its also amazing for sex! I have sleep issues also, and it really helps me to fall asleep.

I'm sure lotsa guys here have or do use it for sex...ah...god I'm gonna miss that :p

The worst thing about pot is it makes you lazy, unmotivated, and slow. I'm glad I quit. I mean, I still do it every once in a blue moon when I'm at a party or something, but I don't do it twice a day anymore. A lot of good things have happened since I quit.

Weed is GREAT with sex. For both the guy and the girl! Salivia also works wonders, but only for girls. Weed works for both.
But if you're gonna try quitting, stay away from people you know that do this, try to get rid of anythign that will remind you of smoking or weed. Basically go cold turkey and forget about it.

I quit smoking weed almost two years ago. There have been a few times that I'd watch a few stoner movies and remember what it was like sitting around with a group of friends, getting stoned, and laughing at the dumbest things. There have also been a few times where I've felt the pressure at work or with friends who are all stoners. There have also been a few times where an old stoner friend would see me somewhere and I actually ended up smoking with them for "old time sakes". But I felt really dumb for doing it.

Really, weed isn't as great as everyone makes it out to be. I can honestly say that the only thing I miss is the social experiences. I had more "friends" when I was smoking weed, but you'll find out later that most of them aren't really your friends if you're not smoking.

Nighthawk, in my neck of the woods, a lot of the guys in industry are kronic. I'd say anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2. We have some coke heads too...but that stuff can mess u up bad.

I like to think I'm fully functional on weed...I've written a graduate level pharmacology final exam totally baked. If you can explain why Terfenadine co-administered with erythromycin is pro-arrhythmic by actin on the hERG K+ channel, and you can dance for a hundred screaming girls baked...u can do most things high!

I almost feel too intense sometimes w/o it though...its getting a lot better thankfully :)

Fuglyguy, your name is interesting. Is that name a description of you or just a name? If you are fugly, how can you be a male stripper that women pay to see naked? I'm not saying you are fugly because I don't know what you look like.

Another thing. I have never been to a male strip club, and don't ever want to, but are most of the women that go there ugly/fat or are most attractive? It seems like it would be mostly ugly/fat women, but I just wanna know.

I'm not gonna say if i'm attractive or not... haha, if you want check me out and decide for yourself. They're just some promo shots on my myspace.

We dont really have any male strip clubs here, we do shows all over the place at like regular clubs. Like we'll do ladies nights everywhere. And the ladies range from whales or drop dead gorgeous girls. I've met female strippers, miss hawaiian tropic finalists, models, bartenders, hooter's waitresses all at our shows.

In general, there is a direct inverse correlation between how much money the women are willing to spend and how attractive they are!

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

I quit last Jan and even posted a thread on it

Although I've smoked a few times since then I really didn't like it. Basically, When you decide you wanna quit eventually it just sorta happens. You don't need any other motivation other than just not liking it anymore. But if you are socially conditioned by others to smoke around them then you need to work on that. You probably have control with yourself but it's more difficult with you're friends, that's the hardest part. Once you re-condition them to realize you don't smoke anymore than the problem just solves itself.....unless you still want to do it, in that case you'll never quit.

I would recommend a 2-3 month of no smoking when you are motivated to stop. Then after that, just smoke maybe once a week or every other week. Thats what i do and its great, saves money, healthier and I still get to hang with my stoner friends

lol, you guys are talking about WEED and the effects it has on you?

get real.

I WISH the problem I had was weed. I don't have a real problem anymore (so to speak, not for about 4 months, and it's not something I usually openly discuss) but it starts with a C and ends with a K.. and i had it bad.

But even at my baddest point, I knew.... honeslty knew, and i'm not just saying that, that if I wanted to stop, i could. One day, I woke up and I said to myself... "why?" I mean, (to me) I do it, i get really horny and geeked out, then, regardless of how much you have, you will run out sooner or later and you think you feel like **** coming down off weed. Try C***K and see what the comedown is like. I used to have to literarly lock myself in a room. Funny thing is, I never progrssed, I think I smoked half a joint my entire life. I hooked up with a girl who happend to have some on her one day, tried it and i liked it.

funny enough, that's the only drug I ever had any problem stopping. Been clean of that for about like i said 4 months, going on 5, no intentions or drive to try it again. it got old.

nothing wrong with weed. just in moderation.

I smoked daily for probably 6 years or so (by daily I mean morning till night for at least 4 of those years). Stopped doing it at that frequency about 5 yrs ago. Since then I've smoked on occasion, maybe 3 times a yr or so.

Towards the end it just got boring, at least doing it as frequently as I was.

Quitting wasn't hard at all, as a smoker of 14 yrs whose tried to quit a couple times weed is a walk in the park. You seem stuck in a mental addiction more than anything.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

If your taking grad level pharmacology classes you should know that the physical addiction to pot is negligible.

It's all subjective, I found quitting cigs and other drugs easier than quitting pot.
