1) Is it ok to eat your last meal of the day (say a chicken breast + veggies) and then go right to bed? If not how long should you wait till you can hit the sack?

2) I know the after workout shake should have some fast acting carbs in there such as a banana as one is insulin sensitive at that point (I'll admit a lot of this stuff is still a bit over my head.. but I realize I should replenish whats missing after my workout). Could one just use say table sugar instead (sugar affects insulin right)?

3) Just verifying that on workout days you eat all your normal meals PLUS pre/post workout shakes (you don't sub a meal for 2 shakes). Right?

1) you'll be fine unless you eat so much before bed that it interferes with sleep. some cultures always nap after one or more meals each day.

2) table sugar is a problem because it's one half fructose, which has to be processed by the liver. the only thing worse would be HFCS-55 which is an even higher proportion of fructose. if you're going to slam that much fructose, you're not going to get the full insulin spike & you'll end up with extra carbs and little control over their timing. if you go that route, better to go with the whole food version (like a banana).

3) right.

1) eating chicken and veggies before bed i know EFFORT and WBA said was okay to. It can really help build muscle while sleeping...i'll admit tho, it wasn't something i did everyday. Very hard to do.

2) Get a fast liquid carb...like Carbo Gain (easy to mix in flavored whey), or Waximize (i've begun liking this product a lot) and have it right after your protein shake. You want something between 75-100 carbs afterworkout. Then be sure to have your meal 35-60 minutes later filled with carbs and protein.

Hmm.. I see Waximize has Waxy Maize (Amylopectin) in it..

I looked and found a similar product at my usual store:
Amylocel (Waxy Maize Starch)

Do you know what if any is the difference between Amylopectin and Amylocel?

You don't need any of this stuff mate, waste of money. The stores just sell this stuff to take your money. All you need to do is train like an animal in the gym, eat 5 meals a day + post workout shake and bananas. That's it.

MM how are you going to prove that it doesn't help. Granted I'm sure there are a lot of waste of time supplements out there. You don't have the experience to say it doesn't work, i do, i use it and it makes me strong combined with everything else in my diet.

JohnnyIrish, its your decision. Personally i recommend 'Carbo Gain'. Very cheap and lasts a long time with little taste to it. Having fast liquid carbs after a workout help. It really helped my gains. And i didn't make this up, look through the vault, EFFORT recommended it in a couple of his random posts i believe.

Imo some supplements are not a waste of time, but a great thing to add to a good diet. But they cannot be used by themselves. Thats obvious

Thanks Stallion for the info on waxy maze. I'm going to buy some "Amylocel (Waxy Maize Starch)" from trueprotein as its relatively cheap and I know they have decent quality.

Honestly if this gives me a good energy boost pre/post workout that will rock.. this past week I've been feeling damn sluggish all the time so a boost of energy for the gym would rock.

Also MM why don't I just use bananas? I either buy too many (and some go bad) or I get too few.. and constantly need to take a trip to the store.. or worse I have them but they are green and not ready for eating. PIA.. this will make it simple.
