Questions about Wine

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone could give me a few suggestions on what food goes well with Red Wines. Also, what are the main differences between Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon ?

I know that Chicken goes with Chardonnay and Seafood goes with Sauvignon Blanc, but I don't know too much about Red Wines.

Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are the 3 wines i'd like to learn more about. Which one is best? Which one goes best with Pizza, or Steak, or Lasagna?

Which wine is better for your health? Red or White?

Thanks

Amongst the reds you listed, shiraz is the spiciest (usually), merlot tends to be the most "gulping" of them, and cab is more of a soft mouthfeel IME. I used to be a big shiraz fan, but lately I find them kind of boring and too much for the usual night.

Red wines are superior because its loaded with the anti-oxidant resveratrol, which is particular to red wine, since it's located in the skin and white wines are fermented after the skin has been removed.

Shiraz is generally more full bodied, depending upon the grape varietal. Goes well with a good steak, Merlot is lighter goes well with lamb, ribs etc. Cab Sav is in between can go well with both. I personally like pino noir the best, It's lighter and it get me loaded really quick. Women love it if you can talk about wine, shows them you are cultured.:moon:

With Thanksgiving coming up soon, what type of wine would you recommend with Turkey Dinner??

We'll also be having potatos, gravy, carrots, dressing, cranberry sauce, etc.

I don't know whether to get white or red??
