can you ever have too much tuna?, i have 280grams worth (a big can) every night and that gives me 70g of protein (1/2 of my reccommended daily intake) i keep thinking too much is dangerous,

myself i'm beginning a protein packed diet and concentrating on my top half of my body and my back (my legs and butt are well muscly anyway), workout every 2 days (1 day to recover), does this sound ok?

btw, i'm 5'10" and 161 pounds and feel i'm scrawny!

cheers,

Ste.

If people can eat 1 bag off 300 g chips per dat and never exercise and still live for many years, why do you think eating something as healthy as tuna WHILE you exercise will do you any harm? As long as you get your vitamins and minerals and the macronutrients down then you will be perfectly all right.

I eat about 5 cans each week, can't say I feel any different since I started eating, but then again mercury poisoning is a slow process.

I wouldn't recommend eating it for a lifetime, but when you're doing a good bulk some months of tuna every day will most likely do no harm.
Absolutely. Google tuna and mercury poisoning and you'll find that there is a problem with mercury in tuna and it should be considered. I used to eat one or two cans a day for awhile until reading up on it. It's convenient as hell and has great protein, but all that mercury for a long time probably is very bad for you.

Try skinless chicken breast instead.

i wouldnt worry about hurting yourself with 70g of tuna at once, but thats such a high amount you might just be better off splitting that up into 2 35g servings

Actually, I would spread that protein out throughout the day with other healthy sources, such as low-fat dairy, turkey, fresh almonds, and whey. I eat a *normal* can of tuna about 3 or 4 days out of my week, and not necessarily before or after my work-outs.

The murcury shouldn't be a problem if you're drinking plenty (more than the recommended 64oz. a day) of water and have a consistent cardio and/or aerobic routine. Murcury is flushed through sweat.

You also have to remember that your body can only process small amounts of protein at a time; by eating half of your daily intake at one time, your body may not be using it efficiently.

I think I eat like an 80 gram can every other day, I think you can't go wrong with 80 grams per one or two days.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

i just googled it and the dangerous type is "white," or albacore, tuna. but heres somtinhg to consider, toher fish contain mercury aswell, there is mecury in the air from the burning of sossil fuels. If you llive in a built up city there are so many polutants in the air. Compared to the air we breathe i think you should not wory to much about tuny, after all its not that high levles. There is mecury in fillings in your teeth you just have to take it we are constantly taking in radiation, including radiation from space and from the sun.

Just research it on google and then make your own conclusion, i just saw they recomended no mre then 6 ounces a week, and thats loads. If in doubt eat red meat like stake. Thats full of protein.

we probably have just as much mecury in us as there is in the tuna if we live in a large city. heres the solution grow your own tuna in an issolated swimming pool:p

oh and light tuna contains only a quater of the mecury.

I never heard of anyone getting ill over too much tuna. It's probably one of the easier choices you can make towards eating healthier.

As far as this mercury discussion, I don't think there much to worry about. There something bad in any food these days this is just a one of them.

Man, check_mate_kid_uk. what the hell are you smoking. You know, a proofread can make your post sound 100% more educated. I'm not flaming or anything, just noticing your enormous amount of typos. Everything else was all right, except for this:

There is mecury in fillings in your teeth you just have to take it we are constantly taking in radiation, including radiation from space and from the sun.
wtf?
