My father bought it for us about 10 yrs ago, before the dad passed away.

Since then, the bro's been in and out of psych wards about 3 times.

He was stayin with the moms, then my mom decided to move to Amsterdam as well (my dad bought the place here), to another house. She said that I needed to take my bro for 2 months time or so, so she could move and organize a bedroom for him (the appartment she moved to had only 1 bedroom and 1 living room. But it has a big garden into which she was planning on expaning the living room in order to get anothe bedroom).

So now, I know my mother, and I know she (like every other typical woman) will just say whatever suits her at a given moment in order for her to get her way.

Fast forward to now, I am stuck here with a schizofrenic brother, hearing 8 voices at a time, won't stop sighing and complaining about the past, in my house. I am nothing but a mere student. Trying and aspiring to be at least get my bachelors in civil engineering, and then hopefully get a Master's in Architecture afterwards. The stress he's causing me now - I just want to go out and drink, lol, so that I don't have to deal with my house, which is turning into a mess. He won't clean ANYTHING AT ALL. I can understand why these somalians
decided to just chain this guy into a shack.

So I keep calling my mom, telling her that I don't want to deal with this crap. I am a man of principle, more than most of you sosuave guys. I believe in honor and responsibility. But I am living with a person to which those terms honour and responsibility have no meaning. When I say them, they don't register in his mind. He has less of a sense of responsibility than the average 20 yr girl.

So I told my mom, as long as she does all the cleaning on his behalf, so that I can live the way that I want to, I dont mind. Otherwise, I'm going to flip my **** and eventually lock him out of the door and call her to come and pick him up.

Now come on Sosuave. Let me hear your responses.

I wouldn't live with him. He needs more help than you can give him. Is there some type of group home for mental patients he can live in? Is he taking his meds? It doesn't sound like it.

I'd probably try to sell the house, take your halves and move on with your life.

In all honesty, though he may be psychotic he's somehow more financially responsible as the only thing he does in life is smoke weed.

I'd be buying rolexes, cars and a prostitute here and there if it was me.

But I guess that's a good idea. Sell the house and get it over with, always an option.

Can you conact his doctor, the state or the county and ask for help?
Maybe talk to your counselor at school and ask if they know of any resources to help your brother?
