Just curious about the psych tests that companies are now making people take before submitting a job application. I went for a part time job and I had to fill out a 24 page test online with different questions. Basically they ask you a question and you pick 4 choice from strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree.

To make a long story short I failed. Maybe they found out im crazy or something but honestly I have been a good employee to all my past employers. How much can they honestly expect to learn through these tests?

And also how do they determine if you fail/pass?

How did you fail?

It's a damned psychological test, not a job placement test!

edit: Okay maybe it is a job placement... how honest were you? 'They' say there are false scales inputted into each of the psych tests to find anybody who will 'fake' their personality.

PS where did you take the test, it will probably help us answer you.

I had to take such a test for the army. I didnt say "yes" to some crazy questions because I didnt want them to send me to a crazy people hospital. I'm not joking. But still they said I'm not entirely sane. This sh!t scared me!

It's called a "personality inventory". What it does is basically shows the employer whether your personal profile fits the job and the only way you can fail is if you fall for all the traps. Which means that you try to make yourself look good throughout the test but fail to remain consistent somewhere because of the traps. You might have noticed that they asked the same question maybe 3-4 times, but each time they worded it differently and each question was spread out between something like 30-50 other different questions.
