I just learned of something yesterday that had me very concerned. I heard that excessive consumption of protein shakes and protein bars significantly increases kidney levels and can lead to kidney failure due to all the pressure and stress that your kidneys have to undergo to attempt digesting all of that heavy stuff. I'm particularly concerned because I normally used to drink protein shakes which contain 40 grams of protein each in a can, at least three to four days ago, and I used to mix them up with protein bars as well.

One of my older brothers who also used to drink protein shakes a lot was informed recently by his doctor that his kidney levels were very high, when he went for his physical. So what's the option then, these days when almost everything seems to have a negative side effect when you consume it often? Are there any protein bars out there that aren't as hard on people's kidneys? I guess the safest bet then would be to stick to the old-fashioned way of protein consumption, then-through eating natural foods?

gotta increase water consumption along with protein consumption. if it worries you, get checked regularly, I'm pretty sure it's a simple blood test.

Doctors also say that eggs are bad for you but I don't buy it. Before I started a low carb intake lifestyle I had excessive proteins in my kidneys which didn't help my diabetes. Now, as of last weeks blood tests, I have no excess protein and I am no longer clinically diabetic.

I drink green tea with lemon instead of water.

Re:

So either way, the protein bars and shakes do more harm than good in the long run. How else is one supposed to get bigger without the help of these supplements to support the effort put on in the gym?

Where the fvck did you get this? I said it HELPED to get rid of excess protein in my kidneys by eating more protien.

Why not go to WEBMD and find out some second opinions? I'm not a Doctor, I just play one on an internet mens forums  !
