Yeah, so I got my wisdom teeth removed this morning and can't eat any solid food for a couple of days. (cant work out either but thats beside the point)

The doc suggested i eat ice cream and suck on popsicles for awhile. I nodded politely, but obviously this dude isn't in to the whole "eat healthy" thing, emphasized by the beachball sized gut he was sporting.

So far, the only shake I've made(6 cups worth) is a blend of:

- 6 whole raw eggs
- 4 scoops(120g) whey isolate + 20g of glutamine (about 30g protein per scoop)
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- ~300mL of frozen blueberries(stole this idea from you, espi)
- ~500mL of skim milk
- 1/2 cup of oatmeal(i regret putting this in, it adds grit to it)
- roughly 200mL of vanilla nonlactose ice cream

it tastes fairly good, although the colour and texture makes it look like i just poured it out of a paint can.

I drink this shake after I lift to help me repair:

1 scoop chocolate whey protein
3 scoops low fat vanilla ice cream (i am very very lean, plus its low fat)
skim milk
2 raw eggs
i teaspoon vanilla abstract
1 packet strawberry instant carnation breakfast powder (prly equal to one scoop whey protein, healthy for you for kids who don't eat breakfast)
a few strawberries
1 tablespoon peanut butter

Then I blend it until its semi-thick. Its not bad tasting, but kicks in after a while. I usually have about 16 oz, which sounds fine to me.

Are people agaist whey protein and when should I have my shake? After I lift?

You mean vanilla extract right?

I do shakes similar to what are mentioned, and it consits of CFM Whey Isolate (with aminogen) Choc syrup, milk, ice cream, and a banana, or some fruit and canola oil. Also too, maybe 1/2 Maltodextrin. Want to bump the nutrient profile, add Brewers Yeast. Will make it blah, but with everything else you can chug it down.

Some people think your crazy when you do shakes like these, but if you NEED calories to grow, there is nothing wrong with a shake like that. In fact its better than the 2 cans of pop your friend just chugged down.

When you put ice cream in a shake, so many people go WTF?

They obvioulsy haven't read one of the BEST books ever in this sport and all around exercise and nutrition called Complete Keys To Progress.

GREAT book, and worth EVERY penny. I've read it more than once and consider it my favorite book I own. They talk about a BRICK of ice cream.

I'll make some potent shake, put it in a half gallon milk jug and drink it the whole day.

In the book they say to do like 8oz every meal.

Haha, thanks for the good laugh this morning. Yeah, I meant vanilla extract, at least I was pretty close and thanks for clearing that up you dbag :p, lol jp with ya man.

I tend to drink my shake after I lift to help me repair after I workout for a good hour to hour an a half. Then I rest for the rest of the day/night, either chilling with my friends or sitting by the bonfire with them (but thats beside the point).

I mean, my brother is huge and he left me 2 half filled tubs of whey protein, which he said to use up. The flavors aren't my favorite (chocolate, caramel), but they are both half filled with powder, and he basically just gave them to me.

Any reason why not to use whey protein? And what about my shake idea? I know ppl are against raw eggs, but just gimme a little recognition for my shake idea and see if ti benefits me?

No problem on the extract thing. lol I read abstracts, but use extract in food :)

I think the shake is fine. If you are worried about the egg whites, read my post on the egg whites and the links.

Whey protein is fine in there, and since you have milk and fat and eggs, its an all around deal.

Some use a blend of protein as well. For instance I have one that is Egg, Whey, Casein, Soy Iso, Milk. Its a 5 blend mix and makes a good gainer or overall shake for the day.

Whey digests really quick, so just that alone and water wouldn't be your best shake unless its after a workout, but during the day you need all sort of stuff you can keep in an anabolic state all day long, and even night.

Shakes like we have all talked about would make a good one before bed, or even if you wake up at night, a good 8oz drink may do some good.
