Does anyone eat protein bars? What are some good brands that are economical and taste good? I'd prefer that as a quick snack when I'm on the go. I haven't eaten a candy bar in a couple of months now and I really miss them. But the calories are too high and so are the carbs. Heck, the carbs I'm getting are from fruits and vegetables, cereal and milk. I do that at the start of the day but I feel guilty about the amount of carbs. I eat peanut butter that's good but I'm cleared out and well the house budget is specific for what gets spent on what and by whom. Fiber bars are okay but I prefer protein bars. Recommendations on which protein bars are good versus those that are a waste of money?

Most of them will have sugar, and the best tasting ones have quite a bit. BUT, its not always bad to have some here and there. Just dont eat them 24/7. I use mine sparingly when I have no choice and I want it all.

I eat the Promax bar. I take them to work because I dont have time to sit, eat a meal, and most the time I dont work long enough to get a lunch, so when my almonds and raisins are gone i'll eat the protein bar and my shake or carb drink. Its ONLY cause I can eat a bite, put it down, work some, eat a bite, put it down...repeat. Its not messy, I dont need utensils for it, dont have to chill it, etc.

I just like the taste of the Promax bars, and usually go with those. You can find TONS of other bars, i'm jus a fan of em.

I only eat them 2 times per week because that is the only time I need them.

Tri O Plex bars are packed, but a tad expensive. You can get promax bars or bio protein bars (like the promax) for about $13 or less for 12 of them.

Your other option....Make some yourself. You'll need a few recipes and need to experiment, but it can be done.
