Programmed for failure

Hi everyone,

This idea has probably come across the forum in one way or another, but I'm just going to say it anyways. I believe that society has programmed men to be failures with women. Particularly through the media. In 90% of movies, sitcoms, etc the guy who eventually "wins" the girl over acts like a complete wuss. Society has driven this idea to be the "nice guy", buy her gifts, flowers, etc. We grow up thinking that if we like a girl, act like this and she will be yours. Those who frequent this forum and read the DJ bible will know this couldn't be further from the truth (with an exception of maybe 5-10% of women who like that crap).

Society has also discouraged the traditional male roles. If you look at men today compared with 40 years ago you will see a huge difference. Men today are basically encouraged to act more feminine. Think about the whole "metrosexual" bullsh1t. Tradional male dominance and toughness is seen as "primitive" and "caveman-like" and has no place in a modern society. Well while society changes dramatically over decades, evolution does not. Evolution takes AT LEAST 10s of THOUSANDS of years up to HUNDREDS of thousands of years to make any appeciable changes in a species. Whether women like it or not, most of them are still programmed to be attracted to males who possess the "primitive" alpha male traits.

Personally, I blame a lot of this on the extreme commercialization in society that has taken place over the past few decades. Why are we taught to buy women we like gifts through the media? Could it be to bolster the sales at shops? Think of how much revenue valentine's day generates.

I'm just glad places like this exist to reprogram the male population and bring us back to our former glory.

since we realize this, we automatically toughen up and take the lead. After realizing wut you saw, i see that i can just pretty much "take" control since there is little competition with this mind set




in otherwords, even if the earth was populated by 90%men, all the men that turned into don juans would be getting all the woman while the 89.95 would be left with sucking each others cicks
and since its split mor 50/50, there is very little competition at all!

When i see guys hitting on woman, i see the afc traits and i see the woman show sings of disinterest. So i do no longer feel threatened when another guy tries to hit up a woman i may have interest in as well.

What's even more distressing is that I am seeing a growing number of young girls that EXPECT you to act AFC like this, and anything less will get your arse firmly planted in the doghouse.

They EXPECT you to kiss their arse.

They EXPECT you to buy them stuff.

They EXPECT you to jump through hoops for them.

And when you don't do that, you are finished.

So in as much as society is programming guys to act like wimps, the media is also programming girls to act like spoiled princesses.

Now, keep in mind, I'm talking about the really young, Britney Spears generation.

I really feel sorry for the younger Dons out there, in many ways, things are worse than ever.

Believe me, with all these movies and tv programs girls are watching, they THINK this is the reality, and they WANT guys with AFC traits.

That's what truly scares me.

What you describe is precisely the reason I chose Behavioral Psychology as my second major. Masculinity is seen as a flaw, testosterone is poison and the more we identify with the feminine the more we'll be able to provide women with what they want, right? Isn't that what I've been taught since my single-mother showed me how to pee sitting down so as not to lift the lid from a very early age. Am I not the ideal mate for any woman? Is not androgeny the best path to getting to a woman's intimacy or should I be ashamed to be motivated by her intimacy in the first place? Damn, that Ross Geller on Friends really knows how to charm a girl with his femininity.

OK, sarcasm over, but I do find it fascinating how a popular show featuring 5 homosexual men teaching a single heterosexual man how to be more attractive to a heterosexual female by displaying homosexual behaviors can draw the audience it does these days.

You are correct, masculinity is offensive to the mainstream media and pop-culture in general. When it is even present, it is at all times ridiculed, laughable, only exemplified by 'broken' men with outdated modes of thinking who will eventually be portrayed as falling on their masculine faces due to their masculinity and eventually fixed by the ever intelligent female shaking her finger at him for being stupid because of his masculinity. Even in 30 second commercials this example bears out. Think of the public outcry if a woman were ridiculed for being feminine? "Stupid woman! Can't you change the oil in your car? Ah, it must be because you're a dumb, female. Here let let me fix it FOR you." I'd be run out of town for writing such a script, but if I reverse the roles it's a laugh riot.

Yet we still hear women moan and complain about there being no 'real' males left in the world. Where have all the Cowboys gone? Why can't they hook up with a fireman? The pool boy sure is in great shape, not like their pasty white investment banker husband who so good with the kids.

When Lois Lane met Superman he was fighting crime, could bend steel in his bare hands, stop locomotives, leap over tall buildings in a single bound; sh!t, Superman could fly! Then he met Lois and swept her away, rocked her world in the sack and fell in love with her because thats what men do. After a year of this whirwind Lois starts nagging Superman, "Why do you have to always be out there fighting crime, huh? Why do you always have to prove you're so Macho? Does it threaten your Ego? You really need to get in touch with your feminine side. What about MY needs and why can't you get a real job? I'm not getting any younger you know, you've got some responsibilities to live up to. When am I gonna see a ring?"

So eventually this wears down on Superman and he submits to Lois' requests (demands?). After all he 'should' really 'grow up' anyway, right? It's the right thing to do. So Superman changes his name to Clark Kent (Super-'MAN' was so male-self-agrandizing anyway) and lands a job as a reporter at a great metropolitan newspaper. Clark begins wearing glasses - even though he can see X-Rays, and shoot lasers out his eyes, he wears them because Lois says it makes him look Metrosexual and SHE likes them.

Time goes on and Lois and Clark marry. 5 years into the marriage Lois gets bored. Same old, same old. Clark is so mundane and unassuming. She longs for the days he would fly and do that funny steel bending trick he used to do when they were dating. He hasn't done any of that for so long; not because he can't, but because he's afraid she'll get upset with him and not put out that evening if he gets '****y' with her. In fact she's not putting out even half as much as she used to these days. Clark just doesn't arouse her as much as he used to and she just can't seem to put her finger on the reason for it.

Then one day Lois runs into a guy named Bruce Wayne. Bruce was dark, mysterious and in great shape! He couldn't fly, but he made up for that in so many other ways. He fought crime! He wore a mask and spoke in short, purposeful sentences, never mincing words. He didn't wear glasses (that was so retro!) and he came and went at the time of his pleasing, not hers. He sent shivers down Lois' spine (and other places that hadn't felt shivers in a while) when he began seeing her.

Then one day, after a 60 hour work week at the Daily Planet (swanky apartments don't rent cheap), Clark made his way home on the subway (since flying was out of the question) and picked up a dozen roses to suprise Lois with (she tended to put out when he showed his 'feminine side') when he got back to the apartment. However it was poor Clark who got the suprise upon discovering Bruce Wayne bending Lois over the kitchen table when he opend the door. Bruce propmptly towled off while Clark, slack-jawed with horror, watched speechless.

"How could you? After all we've meant to eachother!" Clark began to cry as Bruce excused himself from the now estranged couple. Clark was used to crying a lot to show his sensitivity.
"What could you have possibly seen in a guy like that?!" He shrieked like a school girl.

"Well,.." Lois said indifferently, "Batman is a Superhero."

Society and the media encourage men to act like women.

Why would they do this? Simple. Women love to shop. Make men act like women and it gives them an excuse to buy sh!t they don't need. Greases the wheels of our consumer economy.

and also dont forget that woman want to be equal to men and some want to be higher then men since men have ruled since the begining of time (minus the amazon warriors lol). If men become more *****s then it puts it on more of a woman's level and thus woman can use their "control" tactics and become the "men" in the relationship
