Hey all, about a week ago I updated my default profile picture (on facebook) to a pic of myself and an pretty attractive female friend at the bar.

I think it's a really good picture of myself and the girl looks pretty as well. My question is, is there any way that doing this could possibly work against me?

Just based on the laws attraction, I figure a picture of myself and another female would increase interest from the opposite sex. Am I correct in thinking this? Thanks.

It depends on the medium and the audience. You'll be alright on Facebook and the other social networks.

im in the exact situation... I got a pic of me and another girl together as my default myspace and everyone is thinking she is my girlfriend. Is this a good or bad thing? I just tell everyone she is just a friend. I was thinking if putting "not my girlfriend" as a caption or something.

Baurman, and tsmith if it so applies, personally I would put something more casual like "Me and my buddy X-girls name" or "Me and my bff!" It seems a little more secure and casual. Unless the people looking at the picture are stupid, reading a caption such as one of the ones I listed should indicate that you aren't dating the girl.
It also has the plus-side of showing that you aren't a creep.

Mine just has the profile picture (it looks like a friendly picture, not a romantic one), and my relationship status isn't declared... (i.e. not Single or In A Relationship)

I have the picture up as pivot. If anyone asks (no one has yet) I'd obviously tell them that we aren't dating, I just think it's a great picture (which it is).

I'm just wondering, is a picture of yourself and a female friend considered more "attractive" than a cropped picture of only you?

I'd assume it atleast signifies that you're playing the field... or does it just make you look desperate?

Thanks for the feeback. Is it really just "alright"? I thought that it would attract women to me (given other factors about me are attractive as well).

Anyone else with feedback, feel free to chime in

i have one of two girls with me on my myspace, of course they're just friends, but its not the default pic....get a pic of another girl and put it on there as well to create mystery.

Yea I'm debating whether or not to make it my default picture... I haven't changed it yet

It'll work for you but not necessarily in that way. Facebook is a social network, the most successful members have the most "cycber friends." All it is is electronic social proof. Your photos of real life social proof should build your social-network social proof. Now what you do to carry that offline is up to you.

if she is really your "friend" its perfectly fine. if its some random girl or a girl your hardly know but is hot then you have no alibi.

i have a pic of me and my best friend which is a girl. i love when other girls ask me about me her because it lets me know they have a slight interest. so i let them know its my best friend and use the fact that she is on my profile pick to determine if the girl talking to me is the jealous type or not. so it helps.

but if you have no alibi then its not good.

hmm yeah you're all over thinking this sh1t. JUST PUT UP THE DAMN PIC IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD AND IF YOU FEEL WRONG PUTTING IT UP, THEN DON'T COME HERE FOR APPROVAL.

dude, stop over thinking this MINOR sh1t. IF A GIRL DOESN'T LIKE YOU, IT'S NOT GONNA BE BECAUSE OF YOUR FACEBOOK PROFILE PICTURE ;)

you can thank me later. PEACE

I'm going to jump back in there and say it again, when other females are attracted to you, more females get attracted. Post the damn picture, and if she doesn't like it, move on to the next one.

Let THEM compete for YOU.

its gets annoying how many people ask me if the girl next to me is my gf, so i try not to do it as much, only if i find i look pretty good in the pic will i do it. Overall tho, it not any worse than just a normal pic of just yourself, or with so buddies.
