Well I am going with the girl I talked about earlier to horse racing on saturday - I was just wondering if it would be AFC to bring a picnic? Its the first proper date but we have already kissed. I like the idea but think it might look a bit too eager to please.

views please!?

Its OK but make it different. No gay looking picnic basket, flowers, etc. Just food and drink. Do not forget the alcoholic drinks either! Try to make it look like a manly picnic, whatever that is, and forget a thing or two. After all men cannot think of everything! No wine carafes, candy, tablecloth, etc. Just a military style feeding. This should be OK.

Kind of a bump.

Anyone have any good picnic tips/ideas? I was thinking of having a picnic but I'm not sure how to "set one up".

I think the whole tablecloth/basket idea is kinda gay, but I would feel like jackass brining a Publix bag with pre-made food in it.

How are cookouts? Anyone have any picnic/cookout tips for someone who has never been on a picnic before? (sad I know)

Let's see... sandwiches, snacks, drinks. Carry them all in a small ice chest - igloo makes some. Find a good spot, and start eating. If you want to bring a blanket, go for it - or you could tell her to bring one and you'll have the food. While I can't say I've had a lot of picnics before, it's nothing that is out of the ordinary.

Sounds good. I was thinking of a small cookout but she absolutely hates/loathes cooking so I may alt for the cooler idea.

I just didnt want to seem like a tool showing up with all of this crap, wanted it to be more casual =/

But sharing the duties is a good idea.

Thanks for the replies

May as well bring a bag of cheap bread for the ducks if you plan on being around a lake. I went on a date with an ex once and we fed them - then we went to wal-mart, bought a net, and caught one of the mamma duck's babies... we named him Aflack, and I let her keep him. While I don't recommend stealing a baby duck from the pond, it is spring and there are some ducklings running around...

Where are you going? To the races, a park, a cinema?

Try to put the question in some kind of context!

Sounds like a good idea though, I'm surprised at the enthusiasm of the Americans here, they're not so much of a picnic-nation as we are.

I think a local park is what i'm shooting at. It's small, nice, and has a nice lake :)

To DrSoSuave, sorry, I think Devil_In_Disguise helped with why I posted a question. We dont picnic, picnics have been dead since the 70s. So for those of us that didnt grow up in the 70s, we dont know the first thing about camping/picnics. Maybe it's me and my friends, I just wasnt raised that way.

Call me a AFC, I'll even call myself one. I'd rather be labeled as something I could care less about than to blow it with a great girl I've been working hard on.
